Michael Peter Aberg Sept 1, 1954 - Mar 27, 2014 West Hartford - Michael Peter Aberg, 59, of West Hartford devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died of complications due to brain cancer on March 27, 2014. Born September 1, 1954, Michael grew up in Norwich in a large, close-knit family which he remained close with until the very end of his life. He attended Norwich Free Academy and went on to receive his Bachelor in Finance from UConn. Michael spent the last twenty years of his career as a manager of the Aqua Turf Club in Southington, where he was known as a gregarious, generous, and hard-working employee; he considered his colleagues and clients part of his family. He was a loving father and recent grandfather, a role he cherished. He was universally loved by all he met, and could fill a room with his warmth and grace. Michael was the beloved son of Josephine Aberg and the late Harold Aberg. He is survived by his wife, Christine (Ahearn )Aberg; two sons, Kevin Ahearn Aberg and Patrick Fazio Aberg; grandson, Lewis Johnson Aberg; daughter-in-law, Melody Johnson Aberg; two brothers, John Aberg and David Aberg; and two sisters, Kathy Aberg and Carolyn Aberg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday April 1st. at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle 872 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford and a reception will immediately follow at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington. Calling hours will be held on Monday March 31st.from 4-7 p.m. at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home 136 South Main St., West Hartford. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Helen and Harry Cancer Center 85 Retreat Ave. Hartford, CT.
