Michael Appleby

Michael H. Appleby, 61, passed away on April 16, 2025, in Sarasota, Florida. Born on October 29, 1963, in Trenton, New Jersey, Mike lived a full and dynamic life marked by professional success, deep family connections, and a appetite for the outdoors.

Mike completed his early education at The Petty School in New Jersey and spent summers at the Jersey shore. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Temple University which laid the groundwork for a successful career in real estate development, where he became known for his expertise in self-storage. Mike had a keen eye for a good opportunity and was a shrewd negotiator.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mike was an avid outdoorsman who found joy and freedom in nature. He loved hunting and fishing, sailing and boating-activities that brought him peace and exhilaration alike. His enthusiasm for fast cars and firearms reflected his adventurous spirit and zest for life.

Mike was known for being kind-hearted, intelligent, and generous. His dry wit and clever sense of humor brought laughter to those around him and left a lasting impression on friends and family alike.

He is survived by his mother, Sandra H. Appleby; his son, Ryan Appleby; his sister Linnea Appleby; brother-in-law Nick Sollogub; and his beloved rescue dog Dakota. Mike was predeceased by his father, Harold "Red" Appleby.

Mike's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing and inspiration to those who remember the way he lived-with courage, warmth, and an unyielding love for adventure.
