I didn't know your son, but, heard of the accident and will keep you in my thoughts. If, when it is my time, that, 1 small percent of the people love me that obviously love him, that would be quite an honour.
He must have been an extremely special person in this society....if more people could learn from his example, what a wonderful world we would live in.
Please take comfort in the love that surrounded this young man and remember the part you played in the special love that he shared with everyone.

Dear Homer and Lil,

I wish to express how deeply saddened I am to hear of Mike's tragic accident, I am so sorry for your loss.

Having known Mike from the old neighborhood brings many memories that I will cherish forever, the fondest for me was to watch him enjoy the music when Dad (Bruneau), Rick and the band would practice at Rick's.

His smile and happy outlook on life will forever be missed.

To the Bachand family;
For the past year I’ve had the privilege to coach Michael in floor hockey at the Novelletto-Rosati Complex (NRC). He participated in the Italian Canadian Handicapable Associations (ICHA) floor hockey program and was always a pleasure to be with. He lit up the room with his smile every time he scored. On behalf of his fellow player, coaches and ICHA members, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Homer, Lil and family.
My heart goes out to you. Mike went from the sweet and gentle child that we loved, to a kind, honorable and independent young man to be proud off. These attributes in any child are a testament to the parenting they receive. Homer and Lil, you are exceptional parents. I wish all parents were blessed with your wisdom. Please let the knowledge that Mike is now safe with God give you comfort. Carol Gillis, Cape Breton

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Bachand and family
We will really miss Mike; we loved him and loved having him join in on our family get together’s. We always considered him part of the family and enjoyed his company. As others have said he was always happy to see you and be in your company. He enjoyed dancing and would get everyone on their feet to dance - that’s what I think of most when I think of Mike. We have a guardian Angel in Mike now looking out for all that know him.

With deepest sympathies on the passing of Michael, from your old Byng Road neighbors ~ Emmy, Walter, Pete & Rita

I knew right away that something must have happened, when suddenly, quite unexpectedly, I got a phone call from Windsor. Honestly, I haven't been able to get Michael off my mind since Mrs. MacIssac told me the news.
We are all so very sorry.
My parents used to come home from their visits to Windsor and tell me just how loving and out-going Michael was. I realize now, that although I hadn't seen Michael in a good many years, I had honestly come to love him, just through my parent's stories .......his graduation, his job, his living arrangement, his enthusiastic hugs and greetings whenever they would visit. I know that he would just melt my mother's heart. He had the admiration of both my parents.
This morning, I have been thinking a whole lot about our old Windsor 'Byng Road/Bliss Road' neighborhood and remembering everyone who used to be such a big part of our lives when we lived there. I read through the entries in Michael's guest book; stopping at the names of the people that I remember having played with.
On behalf of our family, with fondest memories, we would like to offer heartfelt condolences to all the family and friends and neighbors of Michael Bachand. He will be truly missed.

I have 2 'special needs' brothers..62 & 56 yrs old.....I just called them in Barrie right after I read through the Windsor Star blogs regarding the tragic incident about Mike....they are the most sensitive ...incredible people in the world....and for those who read through the notes and comments in the online blogs..please remember...whenever you encounter or observe these incredible people..in your travels..those who have Downs or other unique characteristics..please appreciate you are in the presence of 'very special and wonderful' human beings....we are fortunate to have them amongst us....my condolences to Mike's family...he contributed so wonderfully to our society..he will be missed but not forgotten...

Having lived next door to Mike and the Bachand family for a good part of my life I am very saddened by this news. I remember going over to the house for many visits. Mike was always eager to help get drinks or snacks for us as guests. He though, would not have his snack or drink until 8:00pm exactly. He was always excited at christmas to show us his newest gift of technology, whether it be a walkman, cd player, new cd etc. He was always up on the new devices that were available. Of course his favourite words were "I love it." I also remember Mike babysitting my brother and I on occasion or maybe just once (not sure). I played basketball with him many times in the backyard on Bliss Rd. One of the other things about Mike was what a great dancer he was. He would jump on the dancefloor and the party would begin. He did a wild "Macerena." I have great pictures of him dancing at my wedding.
Uncle Homer and Auntie Lil and family I am so sad for your loss. I am thinking about you all!!
Mike: You were a big part of my life growing up and I will never forget you!! Love Benee (Renee)

To the Bachand family
I am so very saddened by the loss of a wonderful man. He was very popular at work, due to his good nature and sunny personality. He loved to laugh and make others laugh as well.
I often rubbed the top of his head and called him "my fuzzy head Micheal", and he got such a kick out of it.
I will miss his expression "Oh goody, I love it!"
Mr and Mrs Bachand thank you for sharing your son with all of us at Community Living. your son brought much joy to our lives. I will miss my press man at Venture works.
My sincere sympathies to you and your family.
