I remember one day, my Wife (Ashley) and I and Mike went fishing back in June of 2019.
It was a glorious day on the lake. We were in my bass boat. Ashley was up on the front deck and Mike on the back. Instead of fishing that day, my job was to make sure their hooks always had a minnow on it because Ashley was catching one bass after the other and didn´t care for putting big sucker minnows on her hook. Meanwhile Mike was pretending he didn´t know how to fish very well and let Ashley snag one huge bass after the other all day long. Her biggest of the day was over 6lbs. The whole day he was playing it off like, "I don´t know why they´re not biting". But the thing was he did know how to fish. And we were at my best fishing hole! He just wanted to see his Daughter have an awesome day on the lake. I knew the whole time that he was faking. That´s just kind of guy that Mike was.
He just wanted to spend the day out there with us and let Ashley catch all the fish. He enjoyed every second out there that day and we all got a sun tan and had a blast! That´s for sure! After Ashley caught her big bass, He said, "That´s the biggest bass I´ve ever seen!" What a beautiful day to be together.
I´m really going to miss my Father In-law.
He was always interested in talking with you to find out how you´re doing that day, or how´s work was going? Or to just talk about whatever. If you heard him laughing in a crowd or from distance, you always knew it was him. He also loved to BBQ especially a good steak! His handshakes would almost crush your hand. We would go to Twins games and have tons of fun! He loved to talk about cars also. He was a very handy in the garage fixing and maintaining his vehicles. My dream was to buy him his own 1956 Chevy Bel Air Custom 2 Door Post so he could fix it up just how he liked it. And we could hit a car show or two. That was the car he always wanted. I will keep his memory alive by speaking of him and remembering all those times he made me feel special. I´ll miss you, Mike! - Love Joe
