Michael Robert Bohnstengel, age 73, of Gainesville, FL, died January 2, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Born May 15, 1949, in Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of the Robert Bohnstengel, LT, USN, (Ret.) and the late Helen Marie (Piepmeyer) Bohnstengel.

Mike was raised in Jacksonville where he attended Sacred Heart Catholic School before graduating from Bishop Kenny High School and attending Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. He worked in sales and collections throughout his life and spent most of his adult life in Atlanta where he enjoyed playing golf, preparing gourmet recipes, and attending St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic Church. Mike relocated to Gainesville, FL, in late 2021 to spend time with his three daughters.

Mike is survived by his loving partner of 20 years, Ming Chu Jugon, along with his father, Robert Bohnstengel of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Christina Bohnstengel of Miami, FL, Ellen Bohnstengel of Gainesville, FL, and Emily Bohnstengel of Tallahassee, FL; one grandson, John Riley Bohnstengel of Athens, GA, as well as five siblings, Linda Ireland, CAPT, NC, USN, (Ret.); Robert Bohnstengel (Sally); Diane Lawrence (Tom); Jeff Bohnstengel; Lisa Pafford (Sheldon); and many loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass for Michael Bohnstengel will be held at 10:00 a.m. on January 19, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 5752 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32244 with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Haven Hospice Foundation at beyourhaven.org or The MSA Coalition at multiplesystematrophy.org in honor of Michael Bohnstengel.
