I am so saddened and shocked by this. I've known Mike since I was 15 years old. I've always thought of him as a big brother. Even though we didn't see each other very often, he always took the time to say hello and wish me a Happy Birthday, as I did for him on his.
I will miss you.
Fly high, my forever friend.

Very saddened to hear.
Did not know Mike in later years, but did go to Tecumseh Public School and Lorne Park SS with him.
My condolences.

Words cannot describe how much you will be missed. You´ve touched the lives of more people than you realized. You are a good man. You´ve told me on more than one occasion how much you admire artists and their creativity. Not realizing that you were very much a part of that group yourself. I will miss you my friend.

You were a true friend, 15 years ago you welcomed me to the Endress+Hauser family, you made me feel at home instantly with your teasing and quick wit, I will miss your yearly Christmas cards of images you have captured. You lived well, were loved by all. Rest in peace my friend. You will never be forgotten.

I haven't seen Mike since high school but I'm considered him a friend. I ride my bike past his Lorne Park house almost every day and have often thought about Mike as I pass by. I am very saddened by this news and offer my condolences to his family. He was a BIG personality with a booming voice and I have only the fondest of memories of Mike. RIP my friend.

My husband and I became next door neighbours with Mike and Darla in 2021 and you could not have asked for better people to have your house beside. From the first day Mike was so kind and welcoming and warm, they both helped us so much in the beginning with basic things we weren't prepared for, and always kept an eye on our house for us and just in general have taken great care of us. I'm always excited for the summer corn Mike picks up for us and whatever other little treats get left at our door. He was just that kind of person: caring and generous and thinking of others at all times. It was just his nature. I'm so used to Mike's whistling and voice outside, and it's been horribly quiet without it. I can't believe I won't hear him or chat with him on the driveways way longer than we ever intend to about cameras and photography and travel anymore. Mike had so much more left to do and see, it always felt like. Truly a shock, and our hearts are with Darla and all Mike's family and friends in this time.

There's a hole in my daily routine, and in my heart. Mike and I would text endlessly about baseball and music and whatever silly thing he would send me. I only knew Mike for 4 years but it felt like a lifetime. He would jump in front of a bus for you. I'm so glad I got to see him just a few weeks ago and I gave him a big hug.
I'll miss our lunches, and I'll miss ribbing him about his "stupid Yankees" as he would call them. The world is a lot less fun now without him. But I have a ton of memories I can look back on.

It was heartbreaking and a shock to hear that you left us Michael, we weren´t ready for this... my heart is with Darla. Your friends and family have my deepest condolences. Your leaving is a big loss to us all.
To me my friend, you were a giant teddy bear. You had a quick wit and a big heart.
We met in the 90´s and once I got to know you I loved you. For your sense of humor, your kindness and easy going nature. Then when I got a glimpse of the little weird and whacky things you´d do or say, I knew we´d be friends forever.
I will always remember your big hugs, your big smile, your kind heart, your humor, and how very lucky I was to be able to call you my friend.
Rest in peace Michael.

Mike left me with fun memories of childhood. In grade 5, our principal demonstrated how strong we could "all" get, by asking Mike to lay on the gym mat, while the principal stood on his flexed tummy. He was strong!
Last time I saw Mike, I had a pet fish in my car with me, and I held it up shouting Hi Mike through my car window... He answered, Always a Weirdo eh ? Lol
My condolences to your family. Mike was a sweet man. I'm so sorry for your loss. He will live on in your memories.

Truly a devastating loss. Mike was the greatest, most caring neighbour anyone could ask for. Our driveway chats and the sound of his whistling in the alley will be so deeply missed.

My heart is heavy with the news of Mike's passing, and my deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. I have known Mike for close to 50 years and we had become close in the last 15 or so, with a shared love for music and nature. Rest well, ya big lug

I have so many memories of Mike. Being one of the youngest of our friends group, I admired his wit, truthfulness and kindness. I once told him I was proud I got to grow up with him and our friends. He said "Who says we're grown up?"
I will keep you in my heart, Mike. Hug Hugh for me. Til we meet again.

My heart is broken for Darla and Rebecca. I'm still in shock.
Mike was who I always looked for first when visiting Brad at work or any E+H gathering. I could always count on him for some excellent banter and a big hug. He was absolutely overjoyed for us when we welcomed our boys home and always made a point to ask how they were doing, which meant so much. I'm so happy to have had a chance to know him.
Love, hugs and deepest sympathy,
Melanie Iles
