Michael Burek, born on November 27, 1966, passed away on December 10, 2024, at the age of 58. Mike was one of a kind-a loyal friend, devoted family man, and the life of every party.

He was the son of Robert John Burek and Mary Ellen (Miller) Burek, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his older brother, Robert John Burek, Jr. Though he's no longer with us, Mike's memory lives on through his beloved son, Michael Atkins, and his grandson, Logan Atkins, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Susan (Burek) Doering, and her husband, Lawrence, of Milton, GA, as well as his niece, Taylor Doering, and nephew, Justin Doering along with many close & lifelong friends.

Mike-or Bubba to his closest friends-had a zest for life that was contagious. He was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan and a proud member of the Parrothead club, always ready to sing along to Jimmy Buffett with a margarita in hand. Sundays were sacred to Mike, filled with pizza, wings, and plenty of laughs shared with friends while cheering on the Bears (or yelling at the screen when they didn't quite pull through).

Loyalty defined Mike. He was the guy you could always count on, whether you needed a friend to lean on, a good laugh, or someone to kick off a celebration. His joy for life was unmatched, and he had a knack for making everyone feel like part of his family....or a part of their family. He was the greatest Dad and Papa that a son and grandson could ever ask for. He was always there to help and give advice when needed and ready to spoil Logan rotten any chance he could.

A gathering to celebrate Mike's incredible life will be held at Meadows Funeral Home on January 11th from 1-3:30 p.m. In true Bubba fashion, wear your Bears gear or bring your best Jimmy Buffett vibes or gear to honor the man who always knew how to have a good time. It will be a casual and fun celebration of Mike - just like he would have wanted.

In lieu of flowers, raise a glass of Wild Turkey, share a memory, and toast to the man who will forever be missed but never forgotten. Cheers to you, Bubba.
