Michael Clark Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 4 to May 8, 2007.
CLARK _ Michael Evan June 7, 1950 - April 30, 2007 It is with profound sadness that the family of Mike Clark announces his peaceful passing on April 30, 2007 at Rosedale Hospice. Mike's life ended at age 56 after a courageous nineteen-month journey with brain cancer. Mike was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, and was raised in southern Alberta, primarily Calgary. He graduated in 1975 from the University of Alberta and spent the next five years working in the banking industry. Seeking a new challenge, Mike entered the area of benefits and compensation where he truly excelled and made significant contributions. Mike ended his career with Enbridge as Director of Compensation and Benefits. Mike enjoyed the life he shared with his wife Jan. Together they spent time golfing with good friends, travelling and raising their family. Mike is survived by the loves of his life, his wife Jan; his children, Cam (Anoushka) and Kerry (Kevin); and his best buddy Bailey. He will be deeply missed by his sister-in-law Sandy; nephews, Kyle and Reece; niece Tracey; mother-in-law Marie Clark; as well as many friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by his mother Nina. Mike's family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the caring staff and volunteers at Rosedale Hospice; to the outstanding medical team who cared for him including Dr. S. Husain and Meina Dubetz; Dr. Brian Pedersen and his staff; as well as his home care nurse Andrea O'Brien. A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held at the Glencoe Golf and Country Club 31002 Elbow River Road S.W. (off Highway 8), Calgary on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Forward expressions of sympathy through [email protected], subject heading: Mike Clark. Those wishing to honour Mike's memory, the family requests that donations be made to Rosedale Hospice, c/o Hospice Calgary Society, Suite 900, 833 - 4 Avenue S.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2P 3T5. Dear Jan, Cam, Anoushka, Kerry and Kevin;

Deepest sympathies to all of you on Mike's passing. I have so many memories of Mike and me in high school and beyond (graduation, driving to Missoula, working at the Empress, times with Jan, Nina, Joe and Linda). Though we haven't really kept in touch in recent years (the last time I spoke with Mike was when Nina passed away) I guess we knew we were only a phone call away.

Jan, Cam, Anoushka, Kerry and Kevin

I had the privilege to work for Mike for five years. In that time, Mike taught me so much more that simply how to complete the tasks at hand, and for that I am thankful. Mike lead by example, always persisting on the highest quality and the best that you could be.

I am more thankful however, for becoming friends with a man that I truly admired and enjoyed learning from. Stephen and I are blessed to have called Mike our friend.

Thank you Mike for all that you gave - you are missed.

Our deepest sympathy to you all. We have only met Mike once in Sydney during Cam and Anoushka's wedding. He left a lasting impression on us. He smiled alot and was happy. He enjoyed his golf too. Love, Liz and Mike

Nothing can ever take away
The love a heart holds dear
Fond memories will linger every day
Remembering will keep him near.

My deepest and heartfelt condolences to all of you for your loss. I used to enjoy the little chats I had with Mike while working at AWP.

Mike was a wonderful man whose deep sense of loyalty and integrity was matched only by his huge heart. Indeed, I think he was the most polite person I’ve ever met - a rarity in a world where manners can sometimes be lacking.

Although reserved, he possessed a keen wit that he would use with impeccable timing and it always made me laugh. He was a strong family man, whose face never ceased to light up when speaking of his family or sharing the latest shenanigans of his wee dog Bailey.

I believe I’m a better person for having known Mike, as are all those who knew him. He was unique and special and I doubt I will ever meet another like him. He will be deeply missed but he was also deeply loved and that is an incredible legacy. Many of us could only be so lucky.

Jan, Cam & Anoushka, Kerry & Kevin, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time and I know now, as always, you will be a great source of strength for each other.

My prayers and thoughts are with you during this most difficult and sad time.

Mike was so kind and soft-spoken, a true gentlemen who was so well respected by all who knew him. I enjoyed working with him and learning about stock options and will always treasure the fond memories I have of him. He especially loved and was proud to bring into work, homemade cookies that Jan had made.

With Sincerest Sympathy,
