Michael Ray Costello

Michael Ray Costello passed away on January 1st, 2024 at the age of 58 in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born in Lomita, California on February 19, 1965 to Michael and Priscilla Costello. The family moved to Las Vegas when Mike was 9 years old and he's called it home ever since. After graduating from Western High School and then UNLV, Mike spent the majority of his professional life running a successful business rehabbing and selling real estate.

In 1990, Mike married Angela Layton and, while it turns out they would be much better friends than spouses, they both call the marriage a success as they welcomed two children, Kelsey and Michael. In 2009, he reconnected with an old friend, Lisa Hunt, with whom he would spend the rest of his life. The two were married on December 30th, 2013 and, through that union, he gained a whole new family who welcomed him with open arms.

Mike had a wide array of talents and interests. He was a dedicated student of the martial art of Wing Chun. He raced trophy trucks in Baja, Mexico. He was a fanatic for the Vegas Golden Knights. He thought a weekend consisting of Disneyland and a Dodgers game with his two grown kids was hard to beat. He was immediately loved by every dog or baby he met. He rocked out to Slash and Myles Kennedy. He perfected the art of the sandwich and spent his life searching for the best chocolate chip cookie.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa; children, Kelsey (Danny) and Michael; step children, Trevor and Bailie; parents, Michael and Priscilla; siblings, Tim (Abbey), Sarah (Jason), and Amy; and his dog, Slash.

Mike will be honored on Saturday, January 6th at the LDS church building at 8801 W. Alexander Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89129. Attendees may greet and pay respects to the family from 10:30 - 11:30am. Services will be held at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Best Friends Animal Society in Mike's honor.
