I met Mike in March '99 at Foxwoods. he came to LI and I went to NH many times thru the summer. Mike was a great guy who I know is being terribly missed by his girls, family and all the great friends on the lake. I am grateful to have known Mike if only for a short time. my condolences to all family and friends.

I am so saddened to read about Mike's passing and am so sorry to his entire family for your loss.

I was recently "searching" for people from the past hoping to re-connect when I found this notice. I knew Mike from Peddie. He was larger than life on that campus, everybody loved being around him. From what I was able to find it sounds like Mike had a full and wonderful life - although way too short. He always had a passion for music, I was fortunate to have been an occassional audience for his guitar playing - his favorite song to play back then was Blackbird by the Beatles - maybe because my nickname was Birdie.

My heartfelt condolences to Mike's family, I hope you find comfort in your faith and in the many warm and loving memories of Mike's short time with us.

I feel terrible about the loss of Mike. I had just been thinking about him a month or so ago, wondering what he was up to, not having seen him since we were 15 or so. We had all swum together as kids at the Malden Y and then AAU. We had a great relay team, me doing back, Mike doing fly, Chris Norton doing breast, and John Munsey doing free. Mike was the star, of course, and we watched his many duels with Quincy's Jackie Gauthier, as Carmen, Bill Munsey and my father Al would drive us all over New England for meets. It was a great youth. He had the most infectious smile and a jubilant spirit. He was highly competitive. Youth holds so many promises, and we live our lives hoping to fulfill them. I hope Mike was able to live a happy life. It is never easy as we all know. I give him credit for following his music, which I just saw on you-tube. I miss him already. With sympathies to Carmen, Mary Anne, his siblings and daughters. -Steven Berardi

I am so very sorry for your loss. I knew Mike at UNC and even spent a long weekend with your family at your home on the lake. He was fun to watch when he coached swimming that summer in Chapel Hill as the kids loved his enthusiasm and energy. He always had his guitar and what an accomplishment to produce his CD.

My heartfelt condolences to all of the DeCarlo family.

I knew Mike in college when we were teammates - a great guy, full of life, always smiling, always fun, ...

Our old coach informed many of the team alumni. I know Mike is being fondly remembered by many, many, many friends. He was one in a million.

I just heard this sad news. Mike was a burning light. The world has lost a generous, beautiful soul. I met him several years ago when he was working on his CD and was blown away by his energy and his captivating smile.

I met Mike when his twin girls were just babies. Although our lives took different paths, my heart still broke when I heard of his passing. He was a loyal, generous and caring man; so full of life and enjoyed every minute. Remember that he will always be nearby - you just have to listen.
