Michael Dion Dopson

Michael Dion Dopson, 46, of Peoria passed away on Saturday October 28, 2017 at 1:48 p.m. at his home. Michael was the third child born to proud parents, Esther (Dopson) Patrick and Michael Dopson on June 1, 1971.
He attended May Elementary School and then attended Foreman High School in Chicago. Michael confessed Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Judah Ministries by Bishop Mark DuBois. Michael enjoyed football, basketball, and listening to music. He also loved to clean and cook. Boy could he cook some chitterlings!
Michael leaves to cherish his memories: his loving mother, Esther (Lucius) Patrick of Bloomington; his father, Michael (Rosalyn) Dopson of Chicago; and seven children including Michael (Lil Mikey), Kierra, Dominique, Devonte, Daniel, Dionte, and DaKari. He is also survived by six brothers, Darryl (Evelyn) of Mackinaw, Illiniois; Darrin (Rhoda) of Bloomington, Devin (Kelly) of Wisconsin, Delvar (Bonnie) of Bloomington, Terry (Priscilla) of Matteson, Illinois, and Steven Hugley; four sisters, Barbara (Otis) of Chicago,Sandra (Walter) of Bloomington, Myra Bevins, and Rasheda (Christopher) Chambers; and a special friend, Marsha McAfee. Michael also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, an uncle, Larry Dopson, of Los Angeles, as well as a host of many relatives and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Judah International Ministries in Mackinaw. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Bloomington. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
