Michael 's dead was a shock for me, I was leaving the country when my husband Tom, Michaels' brother told me the news. I was out of security in order to walk to my gate and just starting tearing so strongly! I was travelling all day long as I had to change planes in order to arrive to my destination. All day long I was having remembrances of Michael. I met Michael when he was living in Gates Mills with his ex=wife. It was interesting to me to visit them to watch a fut ball game ( which indeed I never cared for that sport at all), but it was a fun time, joking, in my case learning the culture of Cleveland neighbourhood, and loving the country as Michael always lived out of the city in very rural areas and very pretty, very fresh air and lots to learn from a culture I was a strange and new to. Michael was a fun guy, he smiled all the time and had ups and downs as we , all humans do. Michael will be missed for sure, and I just wish every one in the family and all his friends to find much peace and be grateful they all knew him. I wish much Peace and Light to Michael and wish he is in a better place, resting his soul.

Michael Evert is a beloved uncle and personal hero. Mike was in his early 20s when my brother Matt and I were born to his sister Jean. From my childhood in the 1980s to present, my family would travel from out of town to visit our grandparents and extended family in Cleveland. My brother Matt and I would enthusiastically request to stay at our uncle Mike and aunt Dawn´s house during our Cleveland visits. Mike and Dawn always welcomed us into their home.
To our great joy, Mike always went above in beyond welcoming us and planned many memorable activities for his nephews during our stays. Despite his busy schedule, Mike planned fun activities such as visiting the fire station, obstacles course, amusement park, zoo, lake, professional wrestling, Cleveland sporting events, camping and the list goes on.
Mike was a self-reliant person that overcame challenges. Before the era of the internet, Mike learned to remodel his home with elbow grease and consulting Bob Villa do-it-yourself books. Mike displayed a positive attitude, thought of others first, provided support in times of need, and remained calm during life´s challenging moments. Mike was charismatic and humorous and let everyone shine in his presence. Mike lived as a man of integrity and was committed to his faith.
I´ll miss our conversations, Mike´s unique perspective, and Mike´s lived example. I love you uncle Mike!

Condolences to the Evert family. I ran into Regina in the Heinen's parking lot and told me about Michael's passing. Growing up on Halle Dr in the 70's, I remember Michael. My brothers Richard,Dan and I used to play sports with him on Halle Dr.

I first met Michael when he was in high school and I was in college. Even then he was working many odd jobs just to help sustain himself in a family of 11 children. Michael knew there were no freebies and no handouts coming his way. You got what you earned through hard work and initiative. And so, he did.
I remember him coming home on summer days with his brother Hugh after 12 hours of painting the weather-beaten homes on or around Lake Shore Blvd. Although he was dog-tired, he came though the door with his wide smile and a boisterous laugh greeting all those inside. Michael knew even then that life was about hard work, joyful play, and loving family and friends.
Michael knew how to give of himself and be there for people when they needed it most. He was a great help to my family and me when times were tough. That is who he was and how he loved. Whatever was asked of him whether to build a deck, or fix a car, or stand by a friend he would throw himself entirely into the mission at hand. He was a man to be counted on.
Michael, we are so thankful for you and I ask you to look down upon us now and help us as I know you will. God keep you. You were one of a kind!

Weren´t Mike and I just discussing at Leff Electric, how to close that lighting order at Day Electric? Or that Leviton project we´d worked on? Of course not...that was over thirty years ago! I haven´t seen or talked to him as much since as we did back then, but when we did it always bridged the time since the last. Rest to Michael and peace to his family and friends! You´re never ready to say Goodbye, so until I see you again...

Mike and our family were neighbors for a brief period of time;. He was always pleasant, always asking how we were. We would talk about our dogs and the his, when he got Charlie. He will be missed. Our prayers go out to his family.

Mike asked me to dance at a sock hop at Euclid HS in 1975. He was 16 and had a car. I was 15. That was the beginning. Through those awkward years I remember him sending me a red (love) carnation at school on Valentine´s Day ´76 and I sent him white (friend); the next year I sent him red and he sent me white. I vividly remember him picking me up for homecoming with his fly down and white shirt tails sticking out and separately, pretending to slip around on the ice at the park behind the baseball fields while walking me to work at Shore Center Drive and flattening himself in the process. A certifiable pee-your-pants moment. And so it goes, that would sum up our relationship for many joyful and wonderful years.
We had both gone to work locally after high school and by staying nearby we enjoyed all kinds of fun with his siblings. While life would have its ups and downs over the years, he stood by me, and my family drama and came to know the love of my Mom. The night she passed away, he slept by her side on the floor beside the couch as he would come to do again for his own parents years later.
We went camping in a beat 62 Ford Fairlane that backfired the whole way to Mohican and back all the while telling me it was someone on the other side of the highway, while his brand-new sparkling black ´79 Buick Regal sat in the driveway at home.
You could always count on Mike to wash and wax your car and Armor-All your brake pedal, and it would not be unusual to have a line in front of the house on Halle for a little freshen up. Not just then, but always - you could always count on Mike.
He did have a problem with paint however, dumping a gallon of paint on a customer´s newly blacktopped driveway from 25 feet. Shaking a can of automotive paint to the point of explosion all over himself, the car, and the driveway for his Scout. Or hand painting his old Ford pickup with white latex interior house paint and a brush.
All things that we loved him for and can hear him laughing about now.
Although he was Mike to me, Michael was what he wanted to be called and it appeared most everyone made that transition over the years. That said, in his memory, I want to honor him and his heart by saying: I loved you Michael J. Evert, more than you ever knew. XOXO

Our deepest condolences to the Evert family. We were blessed to grow up on Halle Dr. and have Mike and his siblings as our friends. I remember Mike as sweet and friendly kid who always had a smile on his face. We were so happy to reconnect with him and his siblings at our street reunion a few years ago. I had a long conversation with him and he told me about his children and how proud he was of them. May God give you peace and comfort during this difficult time. Michael was my paperboy and schoolmate, he walked the same way home and would throw snowballs at my twin and me, a hard worker delivering papers for years. I am so sorry.

I have known Mike for many years. First he was our sales rep for Leff Electric when I worked at Hirsch Electric. Later we worked many years together at Severance Hall. Then there were our get togethers for beers and just talk. I have always considered Mike a good friend and I am devastated he is gone.

I met Mike over 30 years ago at TRI Electric when he was our Leviton Rep doing a training class. He was very knowledgeable and funny. We continued our working relationship at LEFF electric utilizing his knowledge with different manufacturers he represented and was always an outstanding salesman and also an amazing friend.
Mike is, was such a great dude, I will miss talking with him and I´m so sad that I don´t have him to support me.
I love you Mike!
Prayers to all his family for your loss.
