To the family of Mr. Furey,
My deepest sympathy to the entire family of Mr. Furey. I am a 1989 Bethel Park graduate (thanks to Mr Furey). Mr. Furey was my guidance counselor throughout my high school years and guidance he did, without Mr Furey I would not be where I am today I truly owe my success in my life and career to Mr. Furey. I remember like it was yesterday going to Mr. Furey with class problems etc and he always helped me through my problems and I wasn't the best student and always struggled through one year to the next so I spent a lot of time with Mr. Furey and no matter how busy he was and how much of a pain I was he made time for me. I remember one year they changed my counselor and I ran to Mr. Furey and begged him to please have it changed so he was my counselor and he did. I can't express enough how much of a rule model he was to me. I've had the pleasure of seeing him a few times since high school and always made sure he knew how much he did for me. He also was my brothers counselor so he became very well known in my family not sure that was good for him but me and my family will never forget the outstanding caring kind hearted helpful person he was. Mr. Furey wasn't only a Husband,Dad,Grandfather, friend he was my guidance counselor that I'll never forget. I never called him by Mike in or out of school he was and alway will be Mr. Furey to me. Thank You again Mr. Furey rest in peace.

Kathy,
Having Michael in our family was so important to me. I will always remember our fun times with him at 4th of July BBQ's on the Raposa farm. He was always so warm and took an interest in everyone, no matter how young we were. Chris and I were so happy to have you both at the wedding, and we'll always cherish the time we got to spend with him that weekend. Thinking of you--lots of love.

My sincere sympathy to Mike's family and all who loved him - He will certainly will be MISSED!!
I first met Mike in the 4th grade at St. Thomas More Grade school. He along with his brothers Jim and Gerry had just moved from Scranton Pa. Mr. Fury was a Pharmacy rep. and mother a housewife (To say the least they had their hands full with the boys). Mike and I quickly became hard and fast friends spending hours on the phone and meeting at the Brookside Farms street car stop with friends, Chris , Don and Durk. Summers were spent at Mineral Beach and Camp Rosary where we became members of the OBCR. We went on to South Hills Catholic HS and later Wheeling Jesuit University where he met his lovely wife Stephanie. We spent many a night to listening to Bob Dylan and sharing our love of literature. You could see that Mike was destined to teach as he so enjoyed discussing and debating what he was currently reading. He was always there when needed and greatly assisted me when I lost my brother Jack in Viet Nam. I occasionally visited and spoke to him by phone. He so loved his children recounting stories of how different each was and dreamed large for them. Sadly our paths parted as we both grew older and and I moved from the area with my own family. While I have not seen Mike in years he was a best friend, and bother to me.
I love you Mike and and am grateful to you for all the joy you brought to everyone.
P.S. That bike wreck we had with each other was your fault!!
Sorry I will not be able to attend due to a recent medical procedure but know my thought will be with everyone.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire Furey Family. Mike and I were classmates at South Hills Catholic and I have many fond memories of our time together there.
Your family is a circle of strength and love. With every birth and every union, the circle grows. Every joy shared adds more love. Every crisis faced together makes the circle stronger.
"May the warm winds of heaven blow softly upon your house. May the Great Spirit bless all who enter there. May your moccasins make happy tracks in many snows, and may the rainbow always touch your shoulder." [American Indian Cherokee Blessing]

Kathy,
You know that Michael was beloved by all of us... and I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you who was so close to him. I know that it has been hard for you...but Michael was 'a good soldier' until he could fight no more and he knew that you were always there for him. We have so many good memories of your visits and our times together. He so loved Horseneck Beach! That is what he would want us to remember. You know we are here for you. Josh and Steven send their love. Michael will be forever in our hearts. Love...Connie

Kathy,
Michael's gracious presence was so important for the Raposa-Brehm clam. I still remember meeting him the first time, in the 1990s, at a picnic at the old Raposa homestead in Massachusetts. It was so great having him at Elizabeth's wedding last July. Our family will treasure all our memories of Michael and will keep you both in our prayers.
