Michael Earl Gainer

Michael Earl Gainer died suddenly on August 12, 2017. Michael was born to Richard and Shirley Gainer on May 27, 1950 in Columbus, Ohio. He was raised in Manhattan Beach, California and attended Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach. He served as an Aviation Machinist's Mate in the United States Navy for four years. He resided in San Luis Obispo County for the past forty years. Michael was a talented musician and could play many instruments including the flute, guitar, saxophone, piano and harmonica. He was a lover of nature and animals. He was an avid gardener. His sense of humor, passion for fishing and the ocean, and his music will always be remembered. Michael is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shasta and Michael Gereau; his daughter, Sierra Gainer and her fiance, Michael Shiver; his son, Mason Gainer; his sisters: Kathy, Karen, and Patti; nieces: Faith, Lanie, and Keloni; nephew, Erik; and grand- children: Jackson and Chloe. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Gainer; his brother, Richard Gainer; his brother, Robert Wilson; and his niece, Leanna Gainer. He will be greatly missed by his loving partner, Janet Hilts and many friends and fellow musicians.
