I know he´s a kind wonderful man cuz I´ve read everything about him my whole life & never heard one bad thing about him ! They broke the mold when God made him . I can´t listen to your music without going back in time & I admit I can´t listen to it without out crying now . You made everyone´s life better with your music . As a young innocent teenage girl, MSB quickly became my heart throb. "Let´s Get the Show on the Road" was my first song ~ I was hooked after that! I will never forget the countless Summer concerts at Blossom, the MSB teeshirts I wore with great pride! I became a total die-hard fan of Michael Stanley´s. May his music and his love for Cleveland continue to live on. Sending love & prayers after all these years to Michael´s family ~ may you all find peace and love in Michael´s music!
P.S. You will never be forgotten, Michael Stanley (Gee)! Your songs have wholeheartedly inspired this "one young girl´s heart!"

R.I.P. Michael... Four years ago my heart was ripped out to learn of your death. I migrated to Cleveland in 1990. Your music helped me fall in love with the city I now declare is "My Town". I was blessed to see you perform live at the Agora. The poignant poetry of your lyrics continues to sing our lives. Love you forever!

Although Michael´s been gone for a while, he lives on in my memories. I 1st heard of of him in an advertisement for the `Ladies´ Choice´ LP on WIOT out of Toledo, Ohio. I liked what I heard and bought the LP, which soon became a favorite. After that, I looked for all things MSB and continued to follow his career. IMO, some of his best was his solo stuff. `Friends & Legends´ is still a go to for me. His post MSB has some really great stuff. It is a mystery that he was never able to break nationally. A great songwriter and a classic rock voice! In reading about him, it is refreshing that he never forgot his roots and was never above his fans. I never had the opportunity to meet him personally, but enjoyed the music and felt I knew him through the music. I have all his music downloaded to my iPhone and have a shelf full of CD´s and albums. You are truly missed, Mr. Gee!

I was born in Cleveland but raised on the east coast. I moved back to OH around 1980 & fell in love with MSB! My dad remembered Michael's name as a friend of my uncle, from his record store days. My uncle is mentioned on the album dedications on Micheal's solo albums. I did a biographical speech about Michael in HS. Imagine my absolute surprise, glee, awe... when the phone rang one Saturday morning with Michael calling ME! He talked to me for several minutes, giving me info for my speech, and thanking me for being a fan. Who does that? A man with a heart of gold! I still enjoy the music and the memories.

I am deeply sorry for your loss of husband, father, grandfather and friend. MSB had me when I first heard them as a young girl in Butler, PA. I was thrilled when I got to see this band in Pittsburgh PA opening for Kansas at the arena. I followed them throughout Ohio and PA up to Erie, PA. I do listen to their albums still on my stereo.

Yesterday was two years but it's still as fresh and raw as then. This Town still feels not quite right with you not in it. Still. Probably for as long as I'm alive. You just did something to this place that's totally unexplainable.
I'll never forget the things you did for me. The memories of your kindnesses keep me going all the time. Thank you Michael.

My entire High School years The Michael Stanley Band had ALWAYS been there. Concerts, meeting Michael and the guys.....His songs take me back to those days. I'll never forget when they appeared on Dick Clark, so exciting not only for the band but his fans went on that ride with them. I met Michael 5 times and always the gentleman. At 14-18 his music played on and on.....then raising a family......now, "Falling in love again" with Michael's music again. Rest now Michael and thank you for all the wonderful lyrics, notes, cords and memories!

What a songwriter those love songs, amazing. I was lucky to meet you twice and both times you were so sweet , I felt very sad when I heard of your passing ,I miss hearing your voice on WNCX everyday, you will not be forgotten. For those of us who grew up in Northeast Ohio in the 70s, Michael represented so many firsts for us ... first crush, first rock star ever idolized, first album ever bought, first concert ever attended. We were so lucky to grow up listening to his music and even luckier to be able to continue to hear new music from him even into our 60s. Michael stayed true to his musical style. His later music was just as good as his earlier music. I still cannot believe he is gone. It feels as though a big part of my heart has been ripped away. I will always cherish the times I was able to talk to Michael and the memories of seeing him in concert. I hope the Gee family is comforted by the outpouring of sympathy following Michael's passing. He will always be in our hearts and memories.

What words fit the right way to really say thanks to Michael ? I personally had a few small chances to interact with him in person and occasionally in emails, but he was always responsive and a great guy. More importantly his life's work provided a lifetime of a soundtrack in my life for 45 years and that hole will not be filled. May God bless him for his contributions to many of us and provide comfort to his family and friends .

Michaels music has been a part of my life since I was a teenager - I’m now closing in (quickly) on 64 and I still spin that very first record that got it all started - Rosewood Bitters - I am now being reintroduced to his after MSB music & its still the same - his music will always be a part of my life. Feeling the sense of loss as a fan I can’t imagine the devastation felt by his friends, family & co-workers. Cleveland was truly the luckiest place on earth that such a great talent was not only born there but decided to spend his life there! His talents definitely could have taken him anywhere! RIP Michael Stanley Gee - rock on with that all star band in the sky!

Sending my heartfelt condolences for Michael's entire family. Not only was he a wonderful song writer and musician he truly was a very caring man. Very blessed to have his music and friendship over the years. He will be greatly missed. God Bless you Michael and thank you for all the beautiful music and memories.

One of my favorite albums of all time is the "Michael Stanley" album where he sitting on a bench in what I have always pictured as a train station. My favorite song from that album is "Song to a Friend Soon Gone" with the poignant words "leaving soon for a lifetime, leaving part of you behind."
Michael Stanley was a true Cleveland friend and champion. We are grateful for the memories and those parts of himself that he has "left behind" that will live on within those of us fortunate enough to have known and grown through his music and the stories they tell.

My condolences to the Gee family. As a youth in Cleveland, Michael and his band brought rock & roll home for me. Live at the Agora aired late at night on CBS when I was 11 or so. That began my love affair with his music, his voice, his iconic presence in our society. My loss cannot compare to yours, but I am trying to convey the joy his music brought me, the actual tears I shed at the news of his passing, and “thank God for the man who put the white line on the highway”.

I know you are getting thousands of condolences but I'm listening to my heart and now you have one more to read. I live in the "Heartland" and have followed Michael all these years. Yes, I was even at one of his early concerts at the Painesville Fairgrounds. Met him several times at his concerts. Got some of the bands sweaty towels backstage at the Agora!! Autographs way back at "Peaches" in Northfield. The best one on one was when we met on a flight coming backing from Tennessee. He got a drink from an anonymous passenger (me) and I was so excited that he walked off the plane with me and made me feel so special. My boyfriend that was waiting for me and was in total shock when he saw us walking off the plane together. Michael was so down to earth and grounded. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends. We all mourn in our own way but the hurt and sadness words just can't describe. He is so blessed to have lived a life doing what he loved. He was so talented and touched the hearts of so many. You will be missed so much but never forgotten. The white lines on the highway will always be here. I'm sure you have them up in heaven. Love you - karen

My condolences to the Stanley family. Growing up in Berea I was able to catch a couple of shows, of course at the Agora. Then when I would come back to Ohio at Christmas time to visit family, I would catch a show at the House of Blues. It broke my heart to hear of his passing. But at the same time it made me want to enjoy his work and have watched many vids. Also a number of tributes from close associates. Moving wish I had known him.
Rest In Peace and keep rocking out at your new gig. Love you, loved your music.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Michael who in my opinion was one of the best rockers of all times! Some of my best memories drift back to the beautiful ballads and heartfelt melodies he created. Cleveland's own son has left for the tour in the sky. Many thanks from this person for being a huge part of the landscape during the halycon days of my youth. You've left, but your music and cultural impact will remain for the rest of us to enjoy. In your heyday, one could not escape the MSB music, it was all around us. Now, it will be one of the "comfort" items that I have.... when I hear it, it will bring back happy memories and good feelings. Many thanks for the music and the memories Michael, go and rest now. - Mic

I'll repeat what I've heard so many times recently - Michael wrote the soundtrack to my early years. So many great memories of Blossom & Coliseum concerts. We will not see another Cleveland legend like Michael Stanley in our lifetimes, truly a rock star. This picture was just a chance encounter at a Subway restaurant on April 8th, 2018, and in typical Michael fashion, he was gracious and kind when this middle-aged guy asked him for a photo opportunity.
Thanks Michael.

Very simply put, a BIG part of the soundtrack of our youth. My first concert at 16 years old - Tom Petty, Rick Derringer, and headliner Michael Stanley Band. Many shows later (NYE at The Coliseum and all those Blossom shows, Tangier, The Odeon, Tower City Amphitheater), Michael Stanley was always a favorite for me and my friends, and he ALWAYS delivered. Michael, thank you for all the years of great music, and the memories it helped create. We're lucky and proud to call you one of our own. Northeast Ohio's loss is Heaven's gain. Rest easy and rock on. Condolences and prayers for peace and strength to your family.

I grew up in NW Pa in the 80s Michael's music got me through those rough teenage years. Got to meet him twice and what an amazing person!! My heart is saddened by the news of his passing. I feel like we all lost a person who understood and shared with anyone who would listen, what our little slice of the world was like. Listening to him sing about the turnpike's slick and the cold comes to stay it takes your breath away, he was there with us and knew our struggles. He sang about love with a youthful innocence that takes me back to being a teenager with the opening cords of All I Ever Wanted. Rock and Roll lost one of the great ones. We will never forget him or let his music be forgotten. Rest in peace.

Condolences to Michael’s family, band members, friends and fans at this difficult time, I already miss him so much. I’ve been a big fan of Michael’s (and MSB/MS&R) for almost 40 years. I got the North Coast album in 1981, saw them a few weeks later at Blossom and I was hooked. Years later I introduced MSB to my husband and he also became a fan. Michael had the perfect rare combination of talent, creativity, charisma and a huge heart, someone who really cared and always had the time for his fans and friends, along with many charitable causes. In addition, as a fellow NE Ohioan, Michael understood and spoke directly to us about our lives; the ups and downs of relationships and all the experiences that happen throughout the years; he became our musical muse & therapist. I met him twice; at a charity softball game in 1982 and at the Odeon in 2004. He was so nice and really took the time to chat and visit with his fans.
May you rest in peace, dear Michael, thank you for all the good times and great tunes. “All you get to keep are the memories, you got to make the good ones last.”

Dear Anna and Sarah,
Greater Cleveland lost our favorite ambassador and you lost your precious dad. It is a tremendous loss to our city but especially for you and his grandchildren. Thanks for sharing him with us for all these years. I was so touched that he would write a goodbye letter to us. It is another example of his many sweet gestures and kindnesses he graciously extended to Clevelanders. Years ago while riding down the escalator at Mays on The Heights, I heard your dad speaking to your mom with his marvelous, distinctive voice and I immediately knew to whom it belonged. I also recall his words and song at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame memorial service for Jane Scott back in 2011 that I attended. Focus on your fond memories of him to bring you comfort in the days ahead. God speed Mr. Gee. Rest In Peace and May eternal light shine upon you.
Love, Kathleen Johnson, Brush Biology
