In our hearts, in our prayers, in our lives day to day- we will forever carry a piece of Michael with us. From Swedish fish,Yoohoos, pretzel sticks and family fun- we all have so many good memories. He has blessed our family with the triplets and there is no greater gift than that. We are thankful for the times that God allowed us to share with Mike. Finding the words to show how I feel the loss of Mike Gertz can be expressed is hard! Finding a community to show it is easy. Mike was a free loving person, he was tough and tender and a little bull headed also. He always knew what he was and that was that. Mike has left behind a family that is just as strong willed. I grew up with all of you.those who watched me grow up, others who experienced it with me and a few I watched mature together . I watched all of you tonight hurt and miss and mourn. I watched your parents be the anchors they are! I have never been so proud to not only know Mike and have the memories I have but also to have experienced a family of that presence! I pray as a family you all find a way to cope. You are going to have good and bad days but lets face it. Your Mom and Dad have not only raised you. They have raised a community ! And to that community they have instilled strength in our God. I pray your strength will come through for all of us and your pain will find a way to endure. As a Reading resident I can tell you that even though I do not know every Gertz by name,I can take a look at them and say, "Oh, now that is a Gertz" I say that because yes there is just that Gertz physical resemblance about them, but every Gertz has always been so respectful and kind everytime I see one. Mr. Bob Gertz ALWAYS has a wave and a smile. It is a honor to live in a town with such a nice family. God Bless all of you in this terribly sad time. My thoughts and prayers goes out to Danny, Bryan and Bobby and the rest of the Gertz Family knowing them from growing up and around a lot of them since I mainly lived next door to the store with my aunt but also with my dad who recently passed did Bobbys air work for him. Mike was a great a guy always had a smile on his face and knew how to make someone laugh. Mike you will dearly be missed.

I am really going to miss Mike. I'm going to miss sporadically running into him, or actually knowing I'm going to see him and getting the same, "What's up Sach!" Same tone and a big ole hug, every time, never skipped a beat. I'm going to miss reminiscing with him about our crazy teenage years and all the fun we had with so many different people. I'm going to miss seeing him at annual Reading events every year. I'm going to miss his positive outlook on life and the way he expressed it to everyone around him (eventhough it may have been R or even X rated at times, lol) He's always been a good friend of mine and eventhough I will miss all of those things about him, I will keep them a live through stories and memories. My deepest sympathy goes out to the entire Gertz family. Mike was a great guy and I will always keep him in my heart.

I didn't know Mike well as an adult, but growing up intertwined among all the Gertz children, and the families of SPPS, in Reading, it's a huge part of my life, and I feel blessed for that. Hopefully the love of your family and the love from the community will help you through this difficult time. I don't think there are words comforting enough for the loss of a loved one, only with the love and support and embraces of all your other loved ones can you begin to heal.
