Paul Downs, Moore Band Director 1984-2006

I was just thinking about Mike so I thought I´d look up his company. Instead I was sad to see his obituary.
In the late 1980s Mike showed up one day in my marching band practice. He asked if we needed a bus driver.
Mike drove for my ba d for the next 10 to 15 years. He became a good friend to the band and knew all the kids. He cheered for them at the band contests and helped out when we hosted our own contest each fall.
He was a good guy, that´s for sure.

Mike "Rosewater" the nickname he earned when visiting the Leslie farm as a boy (around 12 yrs.?).
He accidently poured some stale rosewater into his mouth from a vase he tilted to see what was in it.
He sputtered and we laughed & laughed. Mother, Nelson Jr., Craig, & I were in stitches. I can't remember if my brother Tony saw the incident.
I spotted a small bottle of "Rosewater" in a retail store & bought it to give to Mike for a gag gift that would be sure to make him remember & laugh. Although I did not know he was again in the hospital I hung it in a plastic bag on his door.
Unfortunately he did not get to see it.
We both had a fondness for the Wooldridge family.
Enjoyed talking with Mike. My family & I will miss him.

Mike and I grew up together as friends on Siesta Way in Okolona. We were always buddies and stayed friends for as long as I can remember. When I moved to California after college we drifted and had not talked in many years. Mike made contact and deeply desired for us to meet up again. The last time I was in KY I had wanted to get with Mike and share old memories, but got side track and it did not happen. I truly wish we could have, as this will be one of my life's regret. My deep condolence and sympathy for Pam and the rest of the family; and I wish your hearts be filled of only happy memories of Mike's life's legacy. Dean

Thank you so much to everyone who came to my brother, Mike's visitation & service yesterday. It was so good to put faces to names; hug old friends, neighbors & schoolmates. I'm so sorry if I missed speaking to & greeting anyone who came to be there for Mike. Please message me and send me photos of you with Mike. I have lost so many in my life & photos are my true joy & keepsake. And thank you with God's love to the Masons who performed the beautiful service for Mike, their brother. I will treasure that memory.

I met Mike a little over a year ago and shortly thereafter became his roomie. I enjoyed cooking for him as he reminded me a lot of my own grandfather who was also a Mason. I know his favorite dishes of mine that I would cook were my Liver and Onions, Prime Rib, and his favorite Bacon and Tomato sandwhiches. I am glad that I got to meet and know such a wonderful person and his warm and loving family.

So sad for Pam and the rest of Mike's family. Prayers & hugs. My parents Bryan & Mildred Clark were good friends with Mike's parents. I remember when Pat was pregnant with Mike. Way to soon for him to go.

Mike was a great man, He took care of my 2 sons on the school bus everyday. He made sure that someone was always waiting for them at the bus stop and one time we had a family emergency and wasn't able to be at the bus stop, he took them back to school and call us to see what was going on. All of this was before I knew he was a Brother Mason. I loved Mike as a friend and a brother, he will be missed!

Mike and I went to elementary school together and through high school and graduated together. I have several special memories of him. We liked each other in elementary school and when I had to move to a different school for my 6th grade, due to parents divorcing, he was one of two friends that checked on me from time to time. He was a great friend and man. May you be in a much better place now. Prayers for the family.

I grew up next door to Mike and his family. Our families spent time camping, fishing, boating and vacationing together. Mike was one of the hardest working people I knew. Whether cutting fire wood or building something in his garage, he was always into something. He usually had most of the neighborhood kids in his garage watching what ever he was doing. He would blow his dads L&N train horn for all the neighbors to hear. The last time I saw Mike was at my dads birthday party 6 years ago. He had health issues then, but to talk to him and hear that laugh. He was the same ole' Mike I always remembered.
Mike, your work here is done. You have had a huge impact on the people who knew you.
Rest in Peace my friend

It is at these times that I am sad we did not see each other more. I remember Mike as a child, when I was a child. I'm sorry I never knew the man he had become.
My sympathy, love, and hugs to all.
