I was thrown back when I spoke to my cousin brenda calling to see how things were going because it had been sometime since I had spoke to them and to hear that Mike had passed. I was truly hurt when brenda had to share this devastating news to me.mike and my brother ELDRIDGE and i enjoyed each other growing up and when ever we came home to visit he was always there to see us. May the good lord keep blessing and giving brenda strength AMEN

Oh, Brenda...I was very saddened to hear about Michael's passing, as we had spoken only a few days prior. Life can be so uncertain. I have very fond memories of our working together in the office many years ago, and although Michael didn't "officially" work there, he always made his presence know, looking out for his favorite lady. Brenda, I'm sending you wrap-a-round warm hugs and lots of soft kisses , but most of all plenty of love ❤ ❤❤❤ and prayers . LOVE...ALWAYS.

I met Mike through Brenda because she and I pledged Delta together and became real forever sisters.
Brenda was so excited about meeting this Special young man and when they became engaged I had to be there to see them exchange their vows. So I returned from California just to be with them and share their exciting new future- together.
I have continued to watch and see how much their ❤ LOVE grew over the years.
We have remained friends thru life’s ups and downs but the two of them remained stead fast and in Love.
We have visited with each other whether in Louisiana or in California and always had lots of fun.
It has been beautiful to see them together almost reading each other’s mind “with just a look”.
We are all Born under the sign of Gemini and have enjoyed teasing each other, sharing fabulous meals and friends.
Mike will be missed because he always went out of his way to needle me because he knew that I would return the favor. But when int came down to the line- he had my back.
I am going to miss Mike as a forever friend who Truly loved my Best Friend with all of his heart.
Rest in Paradise, My Friend

BRENDA and Family, May GOD bring you comfort during this period and always.

PRAYER FOR GRIEVING FAMILIES and FRIENDS:

FATHER, thank YOU for another day. We know not what this day will bring but we know that YOU are in charge. FATHER, we know that as sure as we live we must die. Help us to live guided by YOUR word, prepare us for our date and ease the pain of our transition. YOU have all power in YOUR hands and we plead for YOUR grace and mercy. FATHER, give grace and mercy to bereaved families and friends. Heal the hurt in their hearts. Give them the strength to persevere and be their comfort in their hours of need. Turn them to YOUR light so that they may know that YOU will never leave them. Help them to live firmly planted in YOUR word. YOU are our light and salvation and we thank YOU in all things. All praise belongs to YOU. HALLELUJAH, HALLELUJAH, praise YOUR holy name. In the mighty name of JESUS, Amen.

Mr. Guess was a wonderful Man. He was instrumental in all that he did in shaping my son's life while at Buchanan. He also did such a great job with the other children at Buchanan Elementary school. Heaven has definitely gained himself a great person. I guess the Good Man upstairs know that though!!! Praying for strength for Mrs. Guess and the rest of the family.

To Brenda and Family. I was in total shock when told that Michael had passed. Brought back so many memories and the last time I saw him at Ray J’s. I will indeed miss our conversations. I pray that God will continue to strengthen and bless you.

i am heartsick to learn of Mr. Guess's death. This wonderful man allowed my team and me to "invade" his library many times at Buchanan Elementary School in order to set up for the yearly Teacher Appreciation luncheon sponsored by First Presbyterian Church. Michael graciously helped with the set-up. Working alongside each other, we talked about our lives and became friends. He will be missed by all of us at First Pres who had the pleasure and blessing of knowing this fine gentleman.

To The Guess Family:
I too was a neighbor to Michael, in Alice Street. We lived across the street from each other. I graduated from McKinley in ‘67 but Michael was thoughtful enough to ask me to his prom, which I had the privilege of accepting. We would talk a lot until sunset when our grandparents called us in. God has called a gentle giant home. Rest In Peace dear friend. Linda King Sylvester (The Wright’s granddaughter)

Mike was a kind, gregarious person who treated a new patron as a soon-to-be friend. The Eden Park library was his baby and treated it with the same love and pride that a true father would. He exhibited a rare diligence and dedication that few would rarely measure up to as a person and librarian. Frequently, you could see him at the library seven days a week going above and beyond his responsibilities into making the Eden Park library into a success and an asset to the community. He truly worked to the best of his ability and displaying a synergy which improved the library and the area surrounding the library. To the very least, he will be sorely missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to have them in their lives.

Mike, you won't be forgotten.
