Age 61, of Patterson Heights, formerly of Monaca, passed away July 30, 2017 at his residence with his family at his side following a long, hard fought battle with multiple myeloma. Born October 9, 1955, he was the son of Mary Cercone Halama and the late Nickolaj "Nick" Halama of Monaca. Michael served as the President of Halama Brothers Electric, Incorporated which he and his brother, David have owned and operated for the past 40 years. He was a 1973 graduate of Monaca High School and a 1975 graduate of Penn State with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mike served on the Monaca School Board for 25 years, the Monaca Parking Authority, a board member of the Brad Davis Foundation, member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Sons of Italy, and Coronet Band Room, all of Monaca, the N.R.A., and Green Peace. Mike was an outgoing individual with a wide range of interests which included snow skiing, photography, shooting, boating, deep sea fishing, a certified scuba diver, and was very organized, methodical and thorough who enjoyed telling and hearing stories from anyone he met. In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by a brother, David Halama (Bea Fox); a sister, Rosann Armour and her husband, Bill; a nephew, Nicholas Armour; and special friends, Lori Bertagna, Mary Ann Yuran, and Jim Lakas. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Nickolaj Halama; paternal grandparents, Mickolaj and Martha Halama; maternal grandparents, Carmine and Rose Cercone. Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday, August 2, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where prayers will be offered on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Ruffalo will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Beaver Cemetery Mausoleum in Beaver. Memorial contributions in Michael's name can be made to the Brad Davis Foundation, P.O.
