I'm so saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I worked with him when I was in our DC office, and he always had a positive spin, and you just knew whatever the issue, he was going to help! He even made Data clean-up a positive experience! I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Laurie, Charles and Matthew - I helped recruit Mike to join Wyatt, worked with him through out his time at the firm until my retirement in 2008, and will forever treasure my time with him. I was deeply saddened when I heard he had passed.

I will always remember Mike as the cheerful, upbeat person he was who was professional with his clients, helpful to his peers and was also able to connect quite well with the next generation of analysts and consultants. Between the times we spent on client work, I really enjoyed talking to Mike about his family, the Boy Scouts and Duke.

Mike was a just an all around wonderful person and he will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

I only worked with Mike on a few occasions, but could sense his kindness and generosity even in such brief experiences. His kindness will be missed.

The little card of the basketball season schedule that you gave me still sits on my desk.

Mike,

You had a profound impact on those around you. For me, I will always remember how you welcomed me and the other new analysts who came fresh out of college. You always strived to better those around you, whether it was advising me to max my 401k because it was free money or recommending Waze so I can navigate my road trip. I am still impressed how you always managed to be a step ahead of us younger analysts with your twitter savviness and knowledge of trending apps. Your quirky personality always brought smiles to our faces in team meetings. I remember when you refused to use a paper plate for your pizza and then tore off a piece of the pizza box to use instead. I will particularly miss our chats about Duke football and basketball. The little card of the basketball season schedule that you gave me still sits on my desk. I am happy to report that we crushed Elon 105-66 this weekend, but you probably already knew that.

I could also talk about your innate ability to smell test deliverables and your professionalism to clients, but you made it clear that family and friends came first and that's how I will remember you by. We will miss you dearly and my deepest condolences to your family.

Forever Duke,

-Ted

Others at Towers Watson were more fortunate that they've worked with Mike more than I did. I can count the limited times that I worked with Mike, but though my interactions with Mike were fewer relative to others, they were enough for me to know that he was a great guy with a good sense of humor and a positive impact on others. He will definitely be missed! My sincere condolences to Mike's family.

We are so sorry to hear about your loss. We both interviewed with and then worked with Mike for many years at WW. Whenever I visited the office, he was always one of the first people to stop by and was eager to talk about life, the boys, and of course, Duke basketball. We will miss him very much.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mike interviewed me 14 years ago and we spent 7 or 8 years working together on the same client account. We often spoke of family, sports, and non-work related things. Mike wanted to take the time to get to know his colleagues, which is an admirable quality. He will be missed.

Dear Halverson Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Mike and I have worked together since 2002 and he was my first manager at our company. I will always remember him taking me out to lunch in downtown DC on my first day, making me feel right at home. It was always a joy to talk with him about family, sports, or work. All of us in the office will miss his smiling face and his presence.

I knew Mike best in our early teens (winston salem) and even then he exemplified greatintegrity and faith, and also a wry humor I appreciated more than most. I can only imagine his departure leaves an enormous void for those closest to him. RIP, Mike.
