Merry, Susan and Adam,

I just stumbled across this terrible news today and I find myself struck speechless. (Which as Merry knows too well is a very abnormal state for me.) It has been many years but I look very fondly upon the time I spent with your family. You introduced me to Jimmy Buffett shows, Lake Placid and Luge and I could never thank you enough. Mike was a great man and he will be missed dearly by all who met him. I was a young punk, who was madly in love with his daughter and despite the fact that I made a complete fool of myself most of the time, he treated me like a part of the family. I am deeply saddened and wish my meager words could help alleviate the loss you all must feel. I cherish the memories of the time I spent with your family and I think about you often. My sincerest condolences and you will be in my thoughts and prayers in the coming year. Your friend always… Jeff(Bruce)

I was so sad to hear about the news of Mike's sudden passing. When I think of Mike I can see him walking into Blackman every morning with a big bright smile on his face so happy to see everyone. He was a great man with a great heart. He will truely be missed. Our paryers are with you all!

Dear Adam, Erica, Susan, Merry, David and the rest of the Heidt family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very tough time. Mike was such a wonderful man, so full of life. He was one of the most fun people I ever met. I'll never forget my dad telling me that while they were in the Keys with Mike & Susan, Mike walked in to some fancy hotel and pretended to be a guest there and enjoyed all the benefits of the sauna, pool area, bar, etc. Needless to say, my dad thought this was hilarious, and it will be one of my family's most treasured memories of Mike. While Mike may no longer be with us here, just know that we have all gained a very special angel. Take care and God Bless all of you.

Dear Adam, Merry and Susan,
I cannot begin to understand the grief you are all experiencing right now. Although I did not know Mike very well, I did chat with him at Adam's wedding and at the house in Placid a few years back. This past weekend my family was in Lake Placid visiting everyone and we were looking at photo's of Erica and Adam's wedding on Block Island. Mike was in most of them. Upon our return home last Sunday we heard the terrible news. On behalf of the entire Dixon family our thoughts and prayers go out to the Heidt family during this time of great sorrow.

Mike was a great guy with a tremendous passion for life. His legacy lives on in Adam, Merry and Susan, who were fortunate enough to have him as a positive force their daily lives. We will all miss Mike's kindness and generosity. My thoughts and love to Adam, Merry and Susan.

I can't express enough the sorrow I have for your (everyones) loss. He will be greatly miss by everyone. The last picture I have in my mind of him was at your wedding. I was very shocked and sorry to get this news tonight. I remember Mike as a very enthusiastic supporter of the team and recall vividly his reaction to Adam's performances at the Olympics. Those are the memories we will remember. There are no words to express the sorrow we feel....just the understanding that God saw a greater calling for him. I am very sorry and extend sympathies to Mike's loved ones.

I am so glad to have seen Mike after 40 years at our LuHi Reunion just before his untimely death. My heart goes out to Mike's entire family. He was a good man....always was.

Shock is what i felt when i heard this news. My heart goes out to Susan, Merry & Dave, Adam & Erica in this very sad time. Mike was a good man and i feel blessed that i was able to know him and spend good times w/him and your family. He will be truly missed.

Despite all of the tears and heartache we know you all are experiencing, we hope that you have also had the chance to remember all of the things about Michael that made all of us laugh and smile.
