Michael HENEY

I just heard about Mike's death today as the teacher community was buzzing about the death of John Quinn. I was in double shock and fortunately remembered Pete's website and we must have chatted for half an hour. As a former St Pat's teacher we were honoured to have a quality young man like Mike. I tried to steal him when he came back east for a new Toronto high school, now Saint John Paul II. But like the Wise man from the East, he returned to St Matt's and St Peter's. Condolences to his Mother, Pete, David, Donna, his sister and his children. I was glad to see them all at Fr Tom Cassidy's funeral, my last time seeing all the Heneys.

Just as the sun set on the final days of summer, so did the sun set following the celebration of Mr. Michael Heney's life. He, like the sun, encouraged growth, shared warmth, and enlightened those around him. It was an honour and a privilege to know him, to work with him, and to get to know his children in the classroom and beyond (Thanks to Dad's proud stories!). May Donna, Kate and Mike be comforted at this time, knowing you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Heney was one of my favorite teachers. He was a talented football coach, a math whiz, and always encouraged those of us who were not the best at schoolwork. It saddens me to know that St. Peter students will no longer benefit from his talents. God Bless you, Mr. Heney!

He was my favourite math teacher whom I was taught by. He never stopped in believing in me and it's because of him that I succeeded in grade 12 Math. I am proud to call him a dear friend and inspirational teacher. My condolences to his family and the staff of St. Peter. When I went to visit him the day before he passed away, he seemed fine like always. It's hard to believe this happened. All I know now is he is in the loving care of God in Heaven. Rest In peace my friend.

I miss you so much already Michael and I really need a hug. You were the best big brother, an awesome uncle to my kids, and my inspiration to be the best teacher/person, I can be. I'll keep working on it. I love you so much.

My sincerest condolences to the family on the loss of Mike. He will be truly missed. Mike was such an incredible kind soul to all. I loved being in his math classes as an EA with my student. He made math seem easy and understandable. He definitely had the gift of teaching. I'll never forget his all-year-round Christmas tree, math related structures hanging from his classroom ceiling (so many of them!) and classic rock tunes filtering out of his classroom in the mornings and sporadically throughout the day. Mike always had a kind word, an electric smile and a genuine personally. I will miss his rock band t-shirts. I will miss him. He always talked fondly of his children. He has left his legacy in them. Rest in peace, Mr. Heney. Another star shines brightly in the night sky. Shine on Brother.

Coach Heney... your presence will be truly missed. All that rings in my head is that last time I saw you, you said we'd go see the mountains in Alberta. Praying for the family and St. Peter CHS. Thank you for always being positive and showing us your love.

SPK lost a wonderful friend and colleague, but your legacy will always live on in your children and all of the students you inspired on the football field and in the classroom.

Michael was one of the finest young men whom I was privileged to have as my student through his high school years at St. Pat's .We became good friends and I came to know his family . He told me often of his love for the students he taught and coached at St. Peter's .My thoughts are with Donna, Katey and Michael in the loss of this very special man .
