Michael "Mikey" Heredia

Michael Heredia, 32, passed away suddenly on February 8, 2024, in Union City, NJ with his mother by his side. He was born on March 18, 1991, in North Bergen, NJ to Gloria and Miguel Heredia. Mike, or lovingly known as "Mikey" by his family, was a fun-loving and humorous individual with a big imagination. He had a big talent for building items and was known for his kind heart, big smile, and love of cats. Mike had a passion for learning about history and enjoyed discussing both philosophy and psychology.

Mike is survived by his loving mother, Gloria Heredia, his father, Miguel Heredia, his brother, Joseph Heredia, his sister-in-law, his three beloved nephews, several uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his adoring grandparents, Jose and Mercedes Araque, and Felipe and Leonor Heredia.

Mike attended St. Augustine's School for his primary education and later graduated from the prestigious St. Peter's Prep high school. He further pursued his education at Hudson County Community College, achieving an Associate's Degree in Sociology. He was an exceptional student and was always proud to share what he learned with family, friends, and even strangers.

Mike worked as an election seasonal clerk for the Board of Elections at Hudson County. But in his free time, Mike also found joy in the simplest pleasures. Mike enjoyed collecting rare classic toy items and building LEGOs. He had a great love for cinema, always attending the latest movie release each Saturday with his mother and reviewing the movie afterward. TV shows were also a treat, with Mike glued to his favorite shows and proudly collecting memorabilia for display. He was a big food lover and enjoyed video games, traveling, and exploring new restaurants. He was also a skilled swimmer, finding a unique form of serenity whenever he was in the water. Finally, he deeply adored his pet cat, Oliver, going out of his way to entertain Oliver with random social media cat videos and a variety of pet toys he worked hard to obtain.

Mike's gentle demeanor and pleasant personality were contagious to everyone he encountered. A wake will be held at the Jorge Rivera Funeral Home in North Bergen, NJ on February 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral mass will take place at St. Augustine's Church in Union City, NJ, where friends and family are invited to gather and bid farewell to Michael on February 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
