Michael "Mick" Heslam

Michael "Mick" Heslam, of Braintree, age 75, passed away peacefully Friday, April 23, 2021 after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Cynthia (Cole) Heslam for almost 50 years. Mick was born in Portsmouth, England, and came to the United States at age 23 to work at General Dynamics in Quincy. He worked as a shipfitter and a boilermaker for many years. He loved his family, friends, fishing, and soccer. He was a fan of the British national soccer team and loved watching European soccer, especially his home club, Portsmouth F.C. He became a U.S. citizen in 1982. He also loved the beach, boating, and cooking. He was a friend of Bill W. for 27 years. He was the son of the late Leslie M. and Margaret "Peg" (Davis) Heslam of England and the son-in-law of the late George A. Cole Jr. and Virginia (Vaughan) Cole of Hingham. In addition to his wife, Cynthia, Mick is survived by his children, Jessica Heslam and her husband, Dave Wedge, of Milton, Juliette Heslam of Milton, and Matthew Heslam and his wife, Kelly, of South Weymouth. He was the cherished grandfather of Danielle, Jackson and the late Grace Wedge and Annabelle Balzano, and Mackenzie and also Matthew Heslam Jr. He was a beloved brother to his twin sister Maureen Bryson of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Marianne Heslam and Susan Buxey, both of England, Maurice Heslam and his wife, Patricia, of Australia, and the late Jeanette Heslam of England. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, George A. Cole III and his wife Frances (Mello) of Hingham, and sister-in-law, Nancy (Cole) Barges and husband William Barges of Duxbury and many nieces and nephews.
