Michael Hoye Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2025.
Michael Lawrence Hoye of Phoenix, Arizona, began his eternal rest on March 2, 2025, after a prolonged battle with cancer. Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Nancy (Condon); daughter Melissa Cardosi (Thomas) of Hamden, CT; son Michael Hoye (Krystina) of North Port, FL; and daughter Carolyn Hackett (Jeff) of Gilbert, ArZ. He was a devoted grandfather to Atticus Townsend, Honey Townsend, Edith Townsend-Cardosi, Michael "M3" Hoye, Olivia "B" Hoye, Sam Hackett, and Ethan Hackett. He also cherished his many nieces and nephews, especially his nephew John "Chris" Lawrence, whom he mentored and loved like another son. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Roxanne Peel of FL and brother Gregory Hoye of CT. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jane Hoye; brother Richard Hoye; and sister Candace Porter.

Born on May 11, 1953, Mike grew up in Preston, Connecticut, and spent much of his adult life in the Stonington Westerly area before eventually retiring to Arizona. Michael found joy in raising his children, golfing, fishing, and sharing love for HIS New York Yankees. Boompa, as he became known in 1997 when his first grandchild Atticus was born, delighted in the amazing people each of his grandchildren are and admired their feistiness and bold sense of self. He loved watching them grow and spread their wings. In later years, he enjoyed traveling with Nancy, particularly peaceful Hawaiian vacations, road trips, and family Disney vacations. Having visited 49 states, his family will honor him by completing the 50th in his memory.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date at the convenience of the family. Michael has requested memorial contributions in his name to Catholic Charities Diocese of Norwich, 331 Main Street, Norwich, CT 06360 (www.ccfsn.org) or a charity of your choice.

Still can´t believe this is real Dad! I love you Dad. I´m so thankful for the time I´ve gotten to spend with you these past few years. I wish I could just call you to talk about everything and nothing. I miss you everyday. But wearing your comfy clothes comforts my heart. We´ll bring you to Alaska. I´m trying to take good care of Mom. Visit her in peaceful sweet dreams.
