Michael Jacobson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 16, 2024.
In Loving Memory of Michael Jacobson (January 18, 1964 - January 12, 2024)

Michael "Mike" Jacobson, aged 59, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on January 18, 1964, in Minot, North Dakota, Mike was the beloved son of Merlin and Janice Jacobson. He graduated from Minot High School and later Minot State University with his degree in psychology.

Mike's life took a fortuitous turn when he crossed paths with the love of his life, Stacey Thoele, at an outdoor festival in North Dakota. Their shared passion for the outdoors, including camping, biking, skiing, and kayaking. Stacey, with unwavering compassion, cared for Mike until the very end.

A perpetual free spirit, Mike embraced a youthful outlook on life, declaring that he was forever 19, regardless of approaching birthdays. This zest for life manifested in the activities he enjoyed with his daughter. He was the "fun" dad, engaging in games of hide and seek, kickball, and constructing an elaborate treehouse. Mike's grandchildren always received the coolest, most unique presents from him, with the indoor boomerang frisbee a cherished memory (although maybe not their mother's favorite). In his younger days, Mike and his cousins Bryan and Loren were partners in crime, always finding mischief together.

An industrious and creative soul, Mike discovered his passion early on, engaging in shop and pottery classes during high school. He went above and beyond, completing his sister Lisa's art and science projects. Together with his wife, Mike channeled his creativity into crafting birdhouses, carving elaborate jack-o-lanterns, and constructing raised garden beds from reclaimed wood.

Mike's professional journey included work in retail and manufacturing, leaving an indelible mark at PepsiCo, Anderson Merchandisers, and Temp Air Manufacturing.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Janice, on September 11, 2008, and his father, Merlin, on October 4, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife, Stacey, of Burnsville, MN, his daughter Kacee (Tom) Barrett of Brainerd, MN, and his cherished grandchildren, Theodore (9), Franklin(7), and Charlotte(4). Also mourning his loss are his sister Lisa (Scott) Gira, niece Kate, Eagan, MN, along with aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.

In remembrance of a life well-lived, Michael M. Jacobson will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

I worked with Mike at Temp Air for many years. He was always a fast paced go getter. We shared stories of wood working and maintenance projects he did around the house. Heaven needed a handyman.

Mike and I met at Temp-Air and we became friends over the years. I was always impressed with how busy he was during off work hours. Skiing, kayaking and the wonderful jack-o-lanterns. Rest in peace Mike

I met Mike while attending MSU. Back in the day he was working at Pepsi-Cola and had a long rat tail on the back of his head. I remember the day he came to class with a new short haircut. Totally a new guy, and looked more like a professor sitting with his legs crossed (lol). He, Deb, and I formulated a study group where his character and humor fit right in. It grieves me to hear of his passing. I lift his family up in prayer.
