Michael Jepson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 14, 2025.
Michael Le Roy Jepson, born in Kansas City, MO on Christmas Day in 1945, passed on June 11, 2025 at Herman Memorial Hospital, after two weeks of valiant effort by Michael and his enormous ICU care team. He died peacefully with his wife, Diane Jepson, and daughter, Ali Pulver, by his side while his favorite Christopher Cross song, "Sailing" played in the background.

Michael was the eldest of five siblings and is survived by his brothers Garry (and wife Terry), Doug, and sister Patti (and husband Mike). He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathew Le Roy Jepson and Maryonne E. Lewis, and sister Candy Jepson.

He worked in his father's gas station during high school and at age 17 joined the U.S. Air Force, serving as an Aircraft Electrician from 1965 to 1969. After his service, he worked while attending night school, earning a degree in finance and economics from the University of Central Missouri in 1974.

He worked in sales and marketing with companies like Victaulic and Loctite, managing territory across the Midwest.

He met Diane, the "love of my life" as he would say, and they married on October 18,1980. He also became a father on that day, to Diane's young daughter, Ali.

The family moved to Houston in 1985 and at age 39, Michael found his calling and became a Financial Analyst working at AG Edwards, and Oppenheimer. In April of 2003 he found his home at Raymond James as Sr. Vice President, Investments. During his career he earned many certifications including the prestigious designation of Chartered Market Technician. Michael was active in Toastmasters, the Exchange Club, and the Rotary Club and served as President of the American Association of Professional Technical Analysis (2016-2017). He dedicated himself to helping clients with financial planning and investment strategies until his retirement in 2021 at age 75.

In addition to his career, Michael's passions included sailboats, golf, cars, motorcycles, history and discussing any of those subjects. He and his wife maintained an active social life with their wonderful neighbors, and as members of the Westlake Club and Pine Forest Country Club.

A private memorial will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Michael's love of animals, donations can be made in his memory with the Houston SPCA.

I am sorry to say that I Mike and I had not spoken in over ten years. We carved up many miles of Texas highways and country roads together on our BMW's back in the 1980's. He was a great motorcycle riding partner who was quick, but never careless. The only thing I enjoyed more than straightening out curves with Mike was shooting the bull with him over a drink. Mike was an extremely intelligent man with a cutting, but not mean, sense of humor that kept me on my toes and laughing. My heart and sympathy go out to Diane and Ali for their loss.

Rest well buddy. Going to miss all the corny jokes you would tell me every time you see me. Also all the great stories of your past , and that car you loved so much. My friend. :(

My buddy will be missed dearly. What a great sense of humor. We had a lot of funny stories. Diane is the greatest she put up with some of our crap. He was just one fun person to be with the whole family.

Mike was a great financial advisor to my wife, Mary, and me but was also a great friend. Over the many years he managed our accounts, we developed a personal relationship that continued after his retirement. He was a high energy guy with lots of interest, many of which were ways he found to "give back" to the community. He was a devoted family man, and his wife and daughter always came up in our conversations. Over the years, he was also t financial advisor to my brother and my son. We all held him in high regard both professionally and personally. The Hughes family will miss him, and we send our condolences to his family on their loss.

Mike was not just my broker, but I considered him a friend. His humor always made our investment talks interesting and informative. He will be missed for sure.
