Michael Duane Kearns

Michael was a neighbor of our family for years, such a nice person, I loved hearing him play his harmonica in the back yard, Ron and Mike would chat over the fence.
Happy trails to you Mike, so glad we have Jennifer & her family, it´s like having a part of Mike still with us.

When Mike would walk with Ryker around our neighborhood we would share wonderful conversation and stories. He brought me special gifts that he found while in the wild and had collected or making me something special out of a cool piece of wood, while I shared my love for canning and baking, which he would Then describe with glee how he would take the bread and make the best darn toasted cheese sandwiches with it. I will dearly miss this wonderfully kind soul who I considered a sweet friend. The neighborhood will never be the same.

My early memories of my cousin Mike were having dinner together at our grandparents' house. I was born on Mike's ninth birthday, and I always felt a bond to him because we shared a birthday! He was always so sweet to his little cousin. We had a green stool at our grandparents' house that we "shared" and would use whenever we went over there. I remember a lot of casseroles with "filberts" in them (what we now call hazelnuts)!

I also remember attending Mike's weddings and going over to visit when Jennifer was born. I'll never forget the delight on his face when she was born!!

In later years I didn't see him very often. The last time I saw him was 11 years ago when my parents had an art show honoring the life of our Uncle Lloyd. It was so wonderful to catch up and also to see Jennifer too.

Jennifer's wonderful family is a testament to the love shown to her by her parents. I will miss my cousin!

I enjoyed sitting with Michael, whether it was to share a story about our families, or hold his hand when the day was rough. Some days he liked to challenge me, haha.. packing up his stuff and ready to walk out the door. But we compromised with walks around the building to check out the flowers. There's some people you'll always remember and Michael was one of those people. Such a kind person. He will be missed.
