Wonderful memories come flooding back, beginning with our family's excitement as we drove up the hill to see our cousins at 304 Ridgewood Drive. Mike always had an outdoor adventure planned..
Exploring the woods off their backyard..
Finding our way to the "dump" to watch the black bears..
Playing in Sunnyside Park..
Crawling in a "catching up" in the igloo he had built..
As I got older, Mike, Rol and grandpa were my deep introduction to the Outdoors..fishing lakes and streams..hunting pheasants, duck, and deer...seining smelt and minnows...canoeing, etc.
These family vacations with the Kunze's were such important experiences in "growing up".
A few years ago Mike told me of a time that he had found a bear den. He crawled in and spent some time with hibernating mama bear! I thought " how crazy"; later I came to understand that this experience exemplified my cousin Mike..he embraced all of outdoors, because he was "one with nature"..it was in his soul.
