Michael R. Kurilla

Katie- Rich's dad sent us word of Michael's passing- what can we say that hasn't been said before. I know Michael was such a big part of Rich's life in Swoyersville. We still laugh at his toast at our wedding, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family,

Dear Kristi and Family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your father, my deepest sympathy and prayers during this very difficult time.

Dear Mrs. Kurilla, Kristi and John, Susan, and Jessica...

As you already know my thoughts and prayers have been with you and are with you during this difficult time. I love you all deeply. I do have to share my favorite memory of your dad though. It was at Kristi and John's house when there was some type of creature that was on the pillar of Their back patio. We could not figure out what this thing was, and of course we were way to scared to get too close to it..(I think we thought it was going to eat all of our heads at once).. Within 3 minutes of calling your dad not only was he there, but he was armed with a flashlight and your video camera. He was outside trying to get close up footage if this thing so we were able to see it, while we were protected by a large sliding glass door (which of course we kept closed) ! Not only did we figure out it was some crazy bird thanks to your dad, but he also sat with us as we rewatched it over and over.

He was truly a great man, husband, and father who will be sincerely missed. He never loss his humor throughout his courageous battle, which I will never forget.

Ps Mr. Kurilla, you still owe me that money you've been promising me for being Susan's friend! :)

Please accept my deepest sympathy with regard to Mike's passing. Iwas a bit younger than Mike, but I have fond memories of playing pick-up basketball games with him and other young men at the Owen Street schoolyard. Although they were a few years ahead of my age group, they always were friendly and welcoming. I'm sure that he will be sorely missed. Thoughts and prayers wth you all at this time.
