Dear Benita & Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I had the pleasure of meeting Michael at the 1999 Exodous conference. I enjoyed his music and also enjoyed talking with him several times. My heart goes out to you and your family. My father died just over two years ago, so I know the pain of losing a loved one, and share in your sorrow and weeping. But I also share in your joy that Michael is with his Lord. And I pray that the Great Comforter, the Holy Spirit, would come along side you now and lift you up in this time of pain.

I was at my first Exodus in 2003 and Michael's worship services touched me deeply. I am not sure if he sang the song at Exodus or not but 'Your Love is Extravagant' by Casting Crowns reminds me of the Exodus worship services whenever I hear it. I am grateful that I had the opportunity of being led in worship by him.

Thank you to all of you who have been so supportive to my daughter and me during this time. Michael was my soul-mate as well as my friend and I miss him so much. He was also a wonderful father to all of his children. I do want to encourage all that knew him to keep on doing all the things that he told you to do and to continue living in such a way that others will see your good works and Glorify our Father in Heaven. Please continue to pray for us as we go on in the Grace of God.

Dear Benita & family:
It has taken me a while to be able to write something because I still am finding it difficult to put words for my feelings. I have been blessed to have known Michael for over 11 years and can remember the first time that we met each other. I will miss his friendship, counsel, spirit, and laugh. Even as I write this I can see his face with a big smile on it and a hearty laugh pouring from him. We often talked about him coming to DC to speak for us and I know that he would have blessed many. He so deeply impacted his community and many others outside of that community as well. I consider it a great honor, blessing, and priviledge to have known him. I am deeply grateful to the Lord that we talked a week before his passing and this will be a cherished memory for me. Know that my prayers are with you all and especially for Amy. May the Lord hold you close to His heart in this season.
Love to you all,
Bob

Dear Lumberger family,
I've known Michael for several years through my association with Exodus. I have always been deeply impressed with his humility, boldness, gentleness and masculine power. I never saw him publicly or privately that I wasn't blessed and lifted by the Spirit of God in him. May the Lord's comfort be yours. Though this may be heaven's gain it is certainly your deep loss and a genuine loss to the body of Christ.

I never knew Michael personally, but he led worship at an Exodus Conference I attended in 1999. I will never forget how blessed I was by His worshipful attitude and surrender to Christ in that time. I still remember the prophetic vision He shared one evening that blessed me tremendously. It concerned God pulling off the chains that had rusted over the years and the joy that was to emerge. I am grateful for Michael's life. I pray the Holy Spirit would bring comfort to you in abundace during this time and in the future as you recall the loss in this life.
God Bless you!

Dearest family of Michael and beloved of Christ,
How much Michael blessed me personally, specifically his great faith in Jesus. He has been an inspiration to thousands of people and to have know him personally as a brother in Christ and friend has been a great blessing.
I believe that his life and testimony of God's grace will touch many more, telling of the grace and healing of our great God and Savior.
You are in our prayers.

Michael's prophetic vision for a purified and holy Bride of Christ was a profound encouragement for me as a fellow Exodus leader. He took his place at the wall, one hand building, one hand on his sword. He will be greatly missed. My prayers are with his family.

Michael was a blessing in so many ways to many of us with his music and faith. May our good Father bless his family. The strife is over, the battle is won, he fought the good fight, he shall receive his crown. Romans 8:28

I did not know Michael very well, but I heard him speak at a few events sponsored by Exodus North America. He had such a heart for God, and confidence in his Savior. I am sorry I did not get to speak with him, but I appreciated his faithfulness, his courage, and rejoiced in the healing and freedom God did in his life. How wonderful that he was able to bring that same message of healing and freedom to others.
While our hearts are grieve, it is but for a season. For then comes the morning.
Lifting you up,
Bonnie Doebley

To Benita and the Lumberger family:
You will never know how much Michael has blessed so many people in so many ways. But we who knew him only from the Exodus Ministries and Conferences, are richer people for being with him and experiencing his deep love for our Savior. My heart is saddened for you and for those who will never get to know him here on earth. He leaves a gap. May you all find comfort in knowing that he was so loved and touched by so many.

My sympathy goes out to the Lumberger family. May "The God of all comfort" minister to you all in a way that goes beyond what our minds can even comprehend. My life was greatly impacted by Michael, beginning with my first Living Waters training in CA in 1995. Mike was my small group leader and poured a lot of good stuff in me through prayer & encouragement. Since then, over the phone and at several other conferences, he always blessed me and made me laugh, too. Michael will be greatly missed by many of us who benefitted so much because of his ministry of healing via Exodus and Living Waters.

My good friend Michael would often call me and say, "I was praying this morning and you came to mind..." These phone calls were always a deep blessing and have significantly impacted my walk with Christ.
Michael was a true saint, he was/is a "real" brother in Christ. I miss him terribly and think of him with great respect.
My prayers are with Benita and the children, Michael's church family and for all of his friends around the country.
We love you Michael.

Michael was a kindred spirit, a deeply committed friend and leader and a man in love with his God and family. Michael wore his love, commitment and devotion on his sleeve for all to see.
Last night I began singing one of the last worship songs that Michael led the Exodus delegation in at the close of the 2003 Exodus conference in Orlando. As I sang: "God is bigger than the air I breathe, the world we leave; God will save the day and all will say, My Glorious! My Glorious!", My heart was full, sad, glad and lonely for a friend that I won't see again until Heaven. But, I know Michael wouldn't want to come back now that he has experienced what we all long for!
My heart, love, thoughts and prayers are with those Michael left behind, especially Benita, Amy and the rest of his family.
The world is better because Michael was in it for a while!

I was deeply saddened to hear of my Uncles passing. I wish that I could be there with you and the rest of the family. I feel so very blessed that he was a part of my life. This has made me think back to when I was a little girl. I remember when my Uncle Mike taught me how to ice skate and bake peanut butter cookies. He was always a caring Uncle who spent lots of time with me. I loved knowing that I was his favorite back then, but I’m sure he made all his nieces and nephews feel the same way. I love you Uncle Mike watch over me because I know your up in Heaven looking down on us.

My heart has been heavy since learning of Mike's passing. I ran into Mike and Amey just 2 days prior at Whole Foods. I hadn't seen him for over a year and enjoyed seeing and chatting with him for a few minutes. Hearing of his passing was a real shock for me.
I first met Mike when I was attending the Dumamis ministry at Covenant Church. He was an inspriration to all of us who were struggling with and trying to overcome certain lifestyles.
Through Mike's teaching and instruction, I gained valuable spritual knowledge about overcoming satan's stronghold and breaking free into God's redemptive light.
Please take comfort that Mike's life has been a blessing to those of us who knew him. I am so thankful that God placed him in that ministry at Covenant Church.
Mike will surely be missed but we will see him again in Heaven.
