Michael L. Malone

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Michael L. Malone on December 20, 2023 at the age of 58 after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma.

Mike is survived by his wife, Dawn Malone, mother Susan Malone, predeceased by his father Michael M. Malone, sister Shelley Nelson (husband, Dan), brother Martin Malone (wife, Cheri), nephews Mason Malone, Matthew Malone and Zachary Malone (wife, Marisa), niece Ashley Beach (husband, Jason) and Stepson Luke Falsetti. Mike has extended family and cousins in Minnesota. We were fortunate enough to have had a family reunion in July with so many of Mike's cousins and extended family, we're so thankful that he was able to see and spend time with so many family members before he left us.

Mike was born on June 17, 1965, to Susan and Michael Malone in Minnesota. Mike's family moved to San Diego, where Mike's love of surfing began. During his teenage years, he could be found on the boardwalk of La Jolla Shores playing hackysack for hours or dancing at Distillery East on the weekends. When Mike was 19-years-old he decided to join the Navy where he was a Nuclear Machinist Mate until October 1991. After his discharge Mike went on to have a career as an Engineer at several large companies in San Diego, the last being Northrop Grumman.

Mike was happiest outdoors and loved to fish, hike, surf, play baseball and most of all; mountain bike. As Mike and Dawn's love of the outdoors grew, they purchased a travel trailer where they traveled all throughout the United States. They were always planning their next big adventure. Mike was full of life, "dad jokes" and "Mike-isms". One of his most memorable sayings was "you can't unring that bell" meaning, you can't change what's already happened. In Mike's honor, live life to the fullest, enjoy everything you do and do it well. He will be truly missed.

We will be celebrating the wonderful life of Mike on Saturday, January 13th from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at The Thursday Club in San Diego.
