Michael Martin

Michael Timothy Martin, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and accomplished engineer, passed away on January 28, 2025, in Nye County, Nevada. Born on September 6, 1959, in the Town of Niskayuna, Schenectady, New York, Michael lived a life filled with adventure, ingenuity, and dedication to both his family and his passions.

Michael graduated from Guilderland High School before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Boston University. His career spanned several esteemed companies, including General Dynamics, General Atomics, Hughes, MCS Specialty Films, Conductive Sciences, and Erickson International ASWF. Throughout his professional journey, he contributed significantly to the field of engineering and innovation.

Beyond his career achievements, Michael was an avid outdoorsman who embraced life's adventures. He found joy in snow skiing, water skiing, rock climbing, hiking, sailing, deep-sea fishing, kayaking, scuba diving, and flying his Piper Cherokee airplane. His love for the open road was evident in his passion for long touring rides on his Harley. Michael also had a generous spirit-he volunteered as a pilot for Angel Flights to help transport patients in need of medical care.

A true craftsman at heart, Michael was a master woodworker who could fix anything. He was always tinkering in his workshop on new inventions and projects. His ability to create and repair was matched only by his devotion to family and friends. He valued the time spent with loved ones and took great pride in being a self-made man.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Cathy Martin; their three children Emily, Tiffany, and Katie; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters Beth Casale and Laurie Carey; brother Richard Martin; step-sister Jennifer Pugliese; and step-brother Walter Johnson Jr.

Michael received all of his Catholic sacraments during his lifetime. A Funeral Mass will be held in his honor on March 13, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. The service will begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 12:15 PM at 5830 Mesa Park Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89135. No reception will follow.

Michael's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with his kindness, skillfulness, and adventurous spirit. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
