Mike was my boss when I worked at CHP Headquarters in the early 2000s. He was someone I greatly admired for his integrity, warm personality, since of fairness, and his leadership skills. In short, I really liked him, and enjoyed working for him. May he rest in peace.

Janetta, Daniel, John, Stephen, and David,
I met Mike in 1964 when I started at Hoover High School, Fresno. Mike, Mark Harold, the late Dale Pesch and I were all good friends during those four years, and beyond. We competed in school sports (football, wrestling and track). We played poker. We ate great food that Mike´s parents, Margie and Jerry, generously served at their home on Barstow Avenue. We grew together during those important years of our lives.
Mike lived his life like he played football. He worked hard to be the best. He played by the rules. He treated others with respect, both on his team as well as his competitors. He inspired those around him quietly and in his own way.
Mike served all of us as a member of the California Highway Patrol. He was a great husband to Janetta, his loving wife. He was an ideal father to his sons who were so much like him and Janetta in their character. He lived an exemplary Christian life.
I called Mike at Christmas leaving a cell phone message to call me. I never heard back. I just wanted to see how he was doing. I guess I will have to wait awhile before I get a chance to say hello to him in person. I do look forward to that time.
Mike, thank you for being who you are. It is an honor for me to have you as a true friend.

My first memories of Mike, almost 50 years ago now, are of dinners with he and Janetta and of him fixing my car. He would have us all rolling on the floor laughing at stories from work. I will always remember Mike for his laughter, his Godly wisdom, and the countless ways he has helped my little family over many years. He is truly the Best Man I have ever known. I love you, Mike.

I was deeply saddened by the news of Michael´s passing. He and I were academy classmates and grave yard partners in the Newhall area. Michael was an excellent officer and outstanding individual. I was honored and privileged to have had him as my partner.
It is with great sorrow that I send my condolences to his family.

I can´t express how much of an impact this man made on my life! He was always an example of how a man should hold himself. It was an honor and a blessing to know him and I´m so thankful for the ways he invested in me. I love you Uncle Mike!

I had the privilege of working with Mike for several years in CHP HQ. As a professional, I admired his calm, cool demeanor and commonsense approach to solving difficult problems. On a personal level, I loved his toungue-in-cheek humor, the kindness he demonstrated and the example he set for others.
Definitely one of the good ones. Sorry to miss your celebration of life. God bless you and yours!
