MICHAEL "Mike" McGREAL

Michael J. McGreal "Mike" (Age 83)  
Of Silver Spring, Maryland died August 13, 2021. He was born in New York City on April 18, 1938 to the late Eugene and Margaret (Crowley) McGreal. Mike was proud of his Catholic education, culminating in a Masters of Chemistry degree from The College of the Holy Cross in 1960. He began his professional career at the Naval Ordinance Lab in White Oak, Maryland. A few years later, and while raising his family, Mike attended night school at George Washington University, earning a law degree in 1968. His legal career focused on patent work. He served as a patent attorney first for W.R. Grace & Co. and then Colgate-Palmolive.  On October 31, 1964, Mike married Nancy A. Cunningham in Bethesda, MD at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and together, they raised their family in Princeton Junction, New Jersey and Olney, Maryland. Mike was involved in many of his children's activities and coached their soccer and basketball teams. He was active in civic activities including the Lions Club of West Windsor, New Jersey and the West Windsor Township Zoning Board, and was involved in the creation of Olney Manor Park. Mike enjoyed travelling and taking photos of the places he visited. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two children, Dennis (Sylvia) McGreal, Nancy (Gregory Popken) McGreal; three sisters, Maureen (Stephen) Masters, Cathy McGuire, and Francine (Richard) Holzer; a brother Eugene (Roseanne) McGreal; a grandson, Patrick McGreal; as well as nieces, nephews, and close friends. Mike was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie McGreal and granddaughter Micaela McGreal. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on August 19 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck Road, Rockville, Maryland.
