Michael was a great ambassador of the Township of Russell and a friend who helped me through my recent mayoralty run. He will be remembered for being a straight and honest shooter and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Mr. McHugh.

My most heartfelt condolences to Emily, Sam and to Kathy. Every time I would be talking to Mike, be it about politics, business, or whatever, all 3 of your names would eventually come into the conversation, and the pride that Michael felt would burst from him, and he would take on a certain glow as he spoke.
I think we all go through life hoping that we have had some lasting effect on others. I sincerely hope that I had some sort of effect on my friend of ten years...I know he has had an enormous effect on mine. I'll miss you, my friend. God speed.

I had the honour and privilege to serve with Michael on Council as councillor and acting mayor. I always admire his persevrance as well as his dedication. We did not always agree on the same thing but always ended up agreeing to disagree in those cases. Michael had a profound respect for his work his children and family and friends. To Emily, Sam and Kathy, I wish to offer my heartfelt condolences. I will keep good memory on a personal front.

Michael, you were a great friend. We enjoyed watching soccer games with you and Sam, playing cards with you and Emily. And especially our conversations where any idea was taken to it's logical or illogical end. We miss you.

Michael was my editor of a spiritual column in the Prescott Russell News before he became mayor of Russell township. He was a man who was straight forward and active in what he believed. He was a compassionate man as he helped our family in effecting families in the community - one event shines in particular - a dying cancer patient that our family was supporting; Michael ensured that issues were resolved around the final settlement of the property for the surviving spouse and family for that cancer patient. Michael your time here will be remembered!!!

Michael had an office next to us on Kaladar and I would often run into Michael and chat. Had a good discussion with him at our Christmas party this December . Our office was quite stunned to get the news of his sudden passing. We all extend our sincere sympathies to his family and loved ones.

My deepest condolences to Michael's family and friends. I am so sorry for your loss.
I work in the same office building as Michael. He was always first to say hello, and strike up a conversation in the shared kitchen. He was always in a good mood, and would cheerfully discuss any topic enthusiastically with anyone who had the time.
May he rest in peace.

I have known Michael for many years, including his term as manager of Metcalfe Farmers' Market way back when. Miohael's sense of humour was a blend of witty sarcasm, causing one to gasp or giggle at his remarkably astute observations about people or situations. Sympathy to his family and loved ones at his sudden passing.

I was a classmate of Michael's at St. Mary's High School in Calgary. He was the president of our student council and a role model for all of us. He was so well liked by everyone. My deepest condolences to the family. I know he will be missed by many.

Such a sad loss for the McHugh family, my deepest respects and condoleances. Michael had a tremendous impact on me and on so many people, more than he ever imagined he could have. Michael, may your curious and mischievous spirit soar through all the worlds of God!
