Michael M. McNamar

Michael M. McNamar, 58, of Bettendorf, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Iowa Masonic Nursing Home after a long battle with MS. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church at Kirkwood and Iowa streets in Davenport. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Albia, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday all day at Van Dyke Duven Funeral Home in Pella, Iowa.
He was born Nov. 30, 1945, in Des Moines, the son of Wesley and Ilah McNamar. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1967 with a mechanical/industrial engineering degree. He married Johanna Molenaar on March 6, 1968, and there were married for 22 years.
During his 21-year engineering career, he worked for Bendix, Western Gear, Healthdyne and the Rock Island Arsenal. He retired in September 1987.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 33 years, a Junior Achievement leader and loved trap shooting and reading Zane Grey books. He also was a ham radio enthusiast.
Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Survivors include his daughter, Cathleen Hein, of Blue Grass, Iowa; his son, Christopher McNamar, of Davenport; grandaughter, Pipe McKenzie Hein, of Blue Grass; and his mother, Ilah McNamar, of Albia, Iowa. His father, Wesley McNamar, preceded him in death.
