Bartlesville - Michael "Mike" Lippitt, born August 11, 1936, in New York, New York, passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2025, in
Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was 88 years old.
Mike earned a BA in Geology and a minor in physics and geography from Hunter College in New York City. His early career took him from New York to Nowata, Oklahoma, where he worked as a geologist in the oil industry. It was during this time that he met and married the love of his life, Patricia, beginning a 65-year long partnership grounded in love and shared purpose. After settling in Bartlesville, Mike transitioned into the insurance business, where he built a successful and enduring career that spanned decades.
Outside of his professional life, Mike pursued a wide range of interests with enthusiasm. He was actively involved in AAU swimming with Phillips Splash Club, quarter horse racing, oil leasing, barn building, and learning Spanish. He embraced country living and was a skilled photographer and avid bird hunter. Mike also co-owned The Loft Antiques for decades with Patricia, reflecting their shared appreciation for antiques and international travel.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Patricia Lippitt; his children Richard Lippitt and wife Linda of Grove, Oklahoma, Michelle Lippitt of New York, New York, and Steven Lippitt of
Bartlesville, Oklahoma; his grandchildren Patrick Lippitt and wife Taylor, Michael Lippitt, Zac Lippitt, and Maddie Lippitt; his great-granddaughter Logan Lippitt; and nephew Stuart Mass and partner Rick of Scottsdale, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Anne Lippitt and his sister Barbara Mass.
A proud New Yorker at heart, Mike remained a devoted Yankees baseball fan throughout his life-maintaining a strong connection to his roots even as he built a rich life far from the city of his birth.
Mike's legacy lives on through the family he loved so dearly and the many lives he touched along the way.
