Dear Evelyn and Family, Our hearts and prayers are for you. We will miss the most elegant of golf swings, the teaching lessons to play and win at 3--card poker and the always there bear hug. His love of you Evelyn and his family were so evident, and his love of life is an inspiration for each of us. We will miss you Mike. With fondest regards, Pam and David Pierce

Evelyn & Family
Mike was my first business connection when I moved to Houston in 1971. Mike went out of his way to help me in every way he could. As with everyone that crossed Mike's path we became true friends...I will miss him deeply.

Dearest Evelyn & Family, there are no words to express what a loss Mike's passing is. It seems that every time we were on the dance floor, the two of you beat us there. Ya'll are a very special family and embraced life to the fullest. That's the way life should be. At every "Reagan Rats Reunion" ya'll were there and just seem to get the party going. God Bless You and Your Family. Our Love and Prayers are sent to you and yours. We send our love of the memories that we all shared together. We have been blessed by knowing and sharing a part of life with Mike and You, and that won't end. We are here for you always. Love to You & your family at this time. We had so much fun with both of you and we promise to make sure we continue that with you. We are here for you at any time. With our love and support, Shirley & Ted Trigg

One of the sweetest, most genuine men I've ever had the pleasure of meeting....much less being friends with for so many years.

I am deeply grieved to hear of the untimely loss of my dear precious friend, Mike! I have many fond memories of him during my days teaching at Eisenhower and working with his children, Monica, Sherry and Michael! Fast forward to today and I reconnect with Mike as his grandchildren enroll into Cy-Fair High School. I'm quite sure as evident in his life, Mike was a fighter and I believe he had faith that God would take care of him no matter what the outcome!
There's something about death that makes us measure the value of life, especially when someone near and dear to us dies. We experience the agony of their loss and the joy of their gain. Knowing that we will see them again in heaven brings some comfort. Knowing that they are in the Presence of God beholding the face of Jesus and walking on streets of gold generates the affirmation of our faith.
Let us remember it's not how we start life; it's how we finish. I'm sure Mike had committed to finish well. He determined the focus of his life some time ago and lived it faithfully! He was blessed by and with all of you! He was able to see in his time here on this earth the fruit that he bore and to see the beautiful outcomes of his efforts! He crossed the finish line of this life by living faithfully and I'm sure he trusted the details of his life to God!
So, hit the pause button for just a moment and let us examine our life. What have we done with the life God has given us? What have we done with the opportunities God placed in our path? Have we spent our life or invested our life? What remains? Death is not a wall to climb, but a bridge to cross and our dearly beloved friend Mike has made that journey!
My heart grieves with all of yours for Mr. Tofte! Always follow the example that he set forth for all of us to see and trust the details of your life to God and finish well!
Godspeed!

Evelyn, I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I always enjoyed hearing him tell the story about the blinds I sold to you. He seemed to get such a kick out of it. He will be missed. Even though I didn't see you and Mike often, you made me feel special when we were at reunions or other Reagan events.

Evelyn, so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I hold many memories of him and his family. Dolores was like my mother as my family lived with them when we were down and out. Mike was 12.I was 11, can't remember how old Linda was. We would walk home from Cooly School together. He was a sweet kid back then. I wore your wedding dress when I got married and used Monica's baby bed when my son was born in 1963. Marie Stanley, my mother, passed away 2001.I remember what support Dolores gave me when my Daddy died. She was with me at the hospital. So many memories. I live in Fredericksburg Texas with my Daughter, Kellie Marie Allen and my grandson. My son and his wife Douglas, live in Colorado Springs. Granddaughter still in college in New York.
My prayers are with you and your family.

Mike was one of the most laid back guys in our '58 class at Reagan. No one could say a bad word about this gentleman. It was a pleasure watching he and Evelyn dance. I was not that close to Mike, but it was a pleasure to always see him at functions . I am happy to say that I saw him at the '59 class reunion. God bless the family.

To the Toft Family. I can't tell you how nice Mr. Toft was during my visits to his home with little Mike during our baseball days. He would greet all of us with a big smile and a firm hand shake. Then he would wish us well on our ballgame for the day. My thought and prayers are with you all during this time of grief. Thoughts and prayers. John Henry Abercrombie Jr.
