MILAN
MICHAEL (MILANOVICH Jr.)
89, passed peacefully February 14, 2013. Mike was a native of Pittsburgh's South Side, well known throughout the neighborhood and former president of the SS Chamber of Commerce. He maintained an unwavering vision for the revitalization of this once again thriving community. A trained pilot and gunner, he served honorably as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He also enjoyed a long career as a construction project manager for Eichleay Corp. Mr. Milan was a distinguished member of the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. He was instrumental in the church's construction and was named honorary lifetime president of the church after acting as president for multiple terms. Youngest son of Yeka and Mane Milanovich, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary (Dujanovich), Nick, Bob, Rudy, and Joe. His most treasured accomplishment was his large and loving family: proud father to Michael (deceased), Michelle (Jordan), Helene, Mara, Peter, and Lisa; along with daughters-in-law, Juli and Carolyn; sons-in-law, Ralph (Piacquadio) and David (Dodd). He was lovingly known as "Jedo" to his grandchildren, Tony (Tamules), Ollie (Jordan), Mark (Puzas), Christopher (Jordan), Shane (Jordan), Max, Madison, Sydney, Alina, and Kendall. Jedo was loved and respected by his many nieces and nephews, as well as everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Friends received in THOMAS J. GMITER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2323 E. Carson St., on Sunday 2-6 p.m. and Monday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday in Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 4920 Clairton Blvd., at 11 a.m. Everyone please meet at the cathedral.

It was with deep regret I learned of Mike Milan's passing too late to attend his funeral. He was a revered member of the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral for all the many things he did to guide the building of the beautiful church on Rt.51, and the help he gave to ordinary people who lived nearby. I know my mother absolutely adored him for his deep-seated love of all things Serbian and for his neighborly advice and deeds he did to help others. He was a great father and grandfather. He earned his rest. Vjecnaja Pamjat. Sincerest condolences to his beloved family and friends.

Please accept my deepest sympathy and my prayers that you will have the peace that passes all understanding. Although I never knew your father, he must have been an exceptional human being as I know his daughters. What a legacy to leave.

Michaels parents lived next door to my grandparents so I knew all the Milanovich family. As the years passed, as a salesman, I called on Mike when he was with Eichleay. I both liked and respected Mike and I mourn his passing. Condolences to the family.
