Shelley, I am so sorry for your loss. Having lost my husband and best friend, Matthew Cottrell, not that long ago, I can imagine how you feel. I remember fondly the good meals and conversations we all shared in Toledo while Matthew was a graduate student under Mike´s guidance. Matthew felt the highest regard for Mike. We always will have our memories.

I had the privilege of knowing Mike and calling him my friend through VSA conventions and a week long varnish workshop in Concord, MA that we attended together. Mike was one of the warmest and kindest people that I met in the violin trade. He will be dearly missed. May he rest peace.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike through the VSA and always enjoyed talking with him at the conventions. He was a long time customer and friend. Mike always greeted me with a great smile and encouraging words. May he rest in peace. Sending prayers to his family and friends. Lori Kirr, International Violin Company

Thank you for sharing Shelley. I never met Mike but after reading this I feel like I knew him. He was fortunate to have you hanging around with him for 47 years.

Mike made or daughter, Eva her first and only violin. It was a very special and well-timed gift as she was about to attend the Aspen Suzuki violin institute. She has treasured it ever since and now her children get to hear her play. Mike has really left a long-standing mark on our family. His generosity will be forever appreciated, Jean Ciborowski Fahey
