I´m so sadden to have found out that Mr. Muir has passed. I met him when he came to my job at the Westin Peachtree plaza hotel. (The tallest hotel in the western hemisphere) in Atlanta, Ga. He came to have dinner with his lovely wife, son and daughter at the sun-dial restaurant bar and view. As most know or may not know the sundial is on the 72nd floor and Saturdays are its busiest nights. At times their were 300+ reservations at dinner and on this night it was busy. I was pro-host that night which meant I was in charge of assigning seats and making sure all went as planned. Window seats are very popular because of the revolving floors and view while dining. Definitely an experience. Mr. Muir wanted a window seat for his family, he wanted them to have the best experience and as a pro host I knew we didn´t have one available at the time. However instead of just seating them in a cross section I advised him that I would make sure he had a window seat. It was something about his spirit and humbleness that made me want to make this happen for him. To be honest a lot of times people can be pretty rude when they don´t get what they want etc but he was kind and respectful. They were sat a window seat.
I remember a little later he approached me and thanked me. He said his children loved it and he appreciated that I was able to make that happen. He asked me if I´d ever been to Opera nightclub and at the time it was a favorite nightlife place that friends and I went to on Thursday nights. He then said anytime you decide to go I´ll make sure you and whomever comes with you are taken care of. Let me tell you I never had a issue or problem when I went out and I was able to host memorable nights with friends and family there. VIP treatment was a understatement. It´s like he did a good deed for me because I had done that for him. I will never forget that. I´m sure his family and friends miss him so much. Such a honorable man. God bless.

Henry Ward Beecher said:
"The great men of earth are shadow men, who, having lived and died, now live again and forever through their undying thoughts. Thus living, though their footfalls are heard no more, their voices are louder than the thunder, and unceasing as the flow of tides or air"
Michael Muir was my brother, my friend and my mentor.
He was a GIANT among men, not because of the position he held or the respect he commanded from his peers, but, because of his heart, his soul, his kindness and his ability to see the good in all people. He was all the things that a husband, a father, a brother, a son and a friend should be and he did it everyday with purpose and pride.
He was a giver and a believer, a dreamer and a motivator. He was a teacher and a coach and most importantly, he was a friend to all of us....
To me, he will always be the standard and he will always walk amongst the GIANTS. Rest in Peace my friend. I love you!

Mike was such a great person, neighbor and friend. No matter how long it had been, Mike always made you feel like you had just talked. He was strong, funny, compassionate and humble. More than that, he always made your kids feel important. Mike was in a class of his own - amazing person!

Dear Muir Family-
Mike coached my son Sawyer and his baseball team in Roswell and from time to time within the last 6 years or so we'd see him and Danny at Lifetime Fitness or waving to us as he drove by our home on Brookfield Parkway. In only brief passings his energy and smile was energizing and heart warming, and so very kind. To have only known him to say hello occasionally was to understand the impact of your loss. In our sad disbelief, we wish you all the comfort possible and as Brookfield neighbors we send our deepest sympathies and support. Warmest thoughts and comfort to you all.

There are a handful of people who had a profound impact on me in this world. Mike was one of them and I recently got to tell him. I came to America in the 90s with a dream and not much else. Mike always believed in me and let me know it. Sometimes you just need that push, that belief to believe in yourself. I am proud to have known such a great spirit. Mike's belief in me will stay with me for the rest of my days. RIP my friend.

Mike got me started in the Hotel Franchising Business as part of the initial team for Microtel Inns. He mentored me and help guide me into a brand new aspect of my career. He taught me all the ins and outs of the game. When he came to work at Wyndham I had the great opportunity to work with him again. He was my mentor, and my friend. I spoke to him often as he fought his battle with his illness . I will miss him immensely. I am heart broken! My prayers and thoughts go out to all the Muir family!

Muir Family,
I have so many great memories of time spent with the Muir's growing up in North Bergen. I have not seen Michael in many years, but after reading the other entries here and the numerous posts on Tim's FB page, I see that Michael didn't change. He grew up to be the same happy, laughing, driven and energetic adult that I knew as a young man years ago. Please accept my condolences on behalf of myself and Jeannine and the entire D'Onofrio and Ascolese families. We certainly all have many fond memories of time spent with Michael and the Muir's. God Bless you all.

I am so sad to learn of Michael's passing. My condolences go out to the Muir family. It has been quite a few years since interacting with the Muir boys as one of their seventh grade teachers. But I clearly remember that Muirs were outstanding kids with a great sense of humor. Their parents, Tom and Connie were wonderful loving parents who were very supportive of their sons.
To the Michael Muir family, I can't imagine how sad you are at this time with the loss of a husband and dad. I pray that you will gain strength with all the wonderful memories you have shared.

Mike Muir is a friend and a mentor. He was instrumental in the formative part of my career and always went out of his way to provide me with the insights and lessons of his experience. He was warm, calm and cool, yet competitive and clever. On top of that, he was a fun and funny to be around - even when the heat was on. I think I'll remember that most about him. Great laugh. Great smile. My heartfelt condolences to the Muir Family. Though his life was cut short, my life was enriched for having known him. He was one of the good ones...

I send my heartfelt condolences and prayers to the entire Muir family. Mike's spirit, humor and optimism had a positive influence on everyone who was lucky enough to know him. I am one of hundreds of people whose lives have been made more joyous, interesting and bountiful because Mike was our friend and colleague. Twenty-two years ago Mike and Tim sat across from me at a restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona talking to me about selling an unknown hotel brand in a region more than two thousand miles away from the nearest open property. I was pretty sure it was a bad idea but I signed on any way because Mike and Tim were so excited and having so much fun telling me about it that I knew that even if I didn't make a nickel, I'd have a the time of my life. Mike taught me the business and made sure I thrived while making me feel like family with his big, brilliant smile. I had even underestimated how much fun we would have!
Thank you Mike. We'll all miss you until we meet again.
