We knew him as Micheál Ó Murchú from Corcaigh. Micheál brought lots of fun and joy to the Irish Language classes in Kingston and Arnprior when he came that long journey with Richard and Rosella. He gave his all at the ceilis with his witty songs, music on the flute and tinwhistle and concertina, his funny stories and then he was on the floor for every dance.

I knew Michael through Irish language connections, and I was so sorry to learn that he is gone. He was a lovely man who always lightened up the room with his sense of humour and his songs. He is irreplaceable.

My deepest condolences to the Murphy Families in Canada, Ireland, and USA. Michael was a beloved brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He had a fabulous sense of humor and could always count on him for a funny story or memory. He will be greatly missed!

I am deeply saddened by the untimely death of Micheal. He enlivened so many of our Irish language weekends in Ottawa and Kingston with his energy and sense of humour. In the evenings he was always ready dance and to sing one of his witty ditties. Our little group of "Gaelgóirí" is diminished by his passing.

My sincere condolences to Mike's family. Mike was a wonderful singer, musician and an incredible story teller. Mike often ended his stories with that's the honest truth and a grin which caused an eruption of laughter from everyone. Behind all his wit, humour and teasing, I always sensed that Mike was a very intelligent, wise, caring person who had a gentle, giving heart and spirit. Mike will be missed but will never be forgotten.

Hey guys , Ronan Fergal Don , my condolences guys . I have truly enjoyed the many times your dad and I got to chat over the years , since I met you all back in 93'. Classic moments at the pub while he was playing music , sharing a tea with me , and of course the many memories of him and us by the pool come to mind . A terrificf man , I saw him raise 3 wonderful sons , independent , smart , and terrific people . Everything a father could hope for in my own opinion , before passing on , ( much too early) . We were so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Mike lived life fully with enthusiasm, passion and joy; he was all in. Your words definitely paid homage to him. I often met Mike while he was out walking Pooka. He would regale me with stories of his family and all his life happenings; he was a great conversationalist. Mike and Finn provided childcare to our son Ethan many years ago which is when we first got to know them. Our deepest sympathies go out to Ronan, Fergal and Donal and to all of Mike's family.
