Michael Dale Owens, 83, passed away on August 20, 2023 at Heart to Heart Hospice in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on April 25, 1940 in Vernon, Texas to Olon and Evelyn (Adkins) Owens.
Michael grew up in Vernon, Dallas, and Abilene, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas in 1958. After high school he attended Arlington State College in Arlington, Texas, and later began work for the City of Dallas as a draftsman, retiring after 34 years from his position as Manager of Paving Assessments in the Public Works Department.
Michael married Priscilla Akers in 1962 in Dallas, Texas. They were happily married for 62 years. Michael & Priscilla were members of multiple churches over the years, culminating in the last 20-plus years at The Lake Church in Arlington, Texas. He enjoyed working on cars and other mechanical projects, hunting occasionally, spending time with family, and traveling.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Everett and Velma Adkins; and his parents, Olon and Evelyn (Adkins) Owens.
Michael is survived by his wife, Priscilla of Arlington, Texas; his daughters, Robyn Hawley of Coppell, Texas and Michelle Denning and husband Steve of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his grandchildren, James Denning and wife Erika, Josh Denning and wife Emily of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jessica Denning of Irving, Texas; his great-grandchildren, Owen and Gideon Denning of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his sister Katherine (Owens) Bontke of Abilene, Texas; and his nephews, David, Patrick, John and niece Elisa.
The memorial service is at Emerald Hills Funeral Home in Kennedale, Texas at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023. The visitation and burial will be held at the same location prior to the memorial beginning at 9:30 a.m.
