Docter Mike captured our hearts when he visited the Boise church community. He had a cowboy side to him and I took him our ranch so his grandson (my godson)Thane could hunt. We had many good laughs over the years on his many visits to Boise. He was a man among men who stood out as a principled individual and will be deeply missed by all.

Dear Pappas Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy as you mourn Dr. Pappas. I worked with him in the PACU here at Jefferson for many years. His spirit, energy, humor, and attention to each patient and co-worker has long been missed since he retired. I have so many wonderful memories of this amazing man whose energy seemed boundless. I share in your loss and I pray that our good and gracious God will wrap each of you in His arms and give you peace and comfort.

Dear Mrs. Pappas, Lea, and the boys,
Michael was a really great guy. He was funny and wise, and a great help to me when my dear daddy died a quarter century ago. He had become a kind and loving presence to my little girl, Rosey, who misses him dearly, and to my wife, Sarah, who admired him for his dignity and warmth. I feel like I've lost another dad or a big brother. He was a unique person. I tell my history classes stories he told me. I miss him very much. His voice, his smile, his go get'em attitude even when he wasn't necessarily feeling it are qualities very lacking in most of us, and we need people like him to make us get up and do what has to be done. I'm sorry for what you're going through. The world is a little lonelier now. I hope I learned from him. God bless you. I hope we stay in touch. (The night Mike left, I bought my Rosey the biggest Christmas tree I could find -- he told me to.)

I was saddened to hear the news about Mike. He was a great man who dedicated his life to the relief of pain. I enjoyed working with him and he was a wonderful role model for all physicians.

You have my deepest, deepest sympathy for dear, dear Mike. I dearly loved him and called him Pappy while working with him at the Operating Room at Jefferson Hospital. He was such a hard worker and a wonderful man. Truely loved his family and friends. I haven't seen him for a long time, but I thought of him many, many times! He will be deeply missed!! Love and sympathy to the family, Shelby Lancaster Siler

Dear Sophie,
I am so deeply saddened to hear about Mike's passing. I think I knew him and value him almost my entire life from the years when he was a med student and lived in Dormont as we, the Karavas family, also lived there. He was a vital member of the choir then and of course always a vital member of our Holy Cross community. But above all, he was a dear, sensitive, caring doctor and human being. My mother Katina Karavas, now 95, and I, in fact my entire family send you and your family our deepest sympathy and love.
