Sally and family,So sorry to hear of the sudden Loss of Dr. P. He was always one of my favorite physcians, from the time he was a resident at St. John's till now being at Mercy. It was always nice to run into him and catch up on how you and the boys were doing. He loved his family so much and smiled the whole time he would talk about all of you. He will sadly be missed by so many. May God give you peace and comfort in the many hard days ahead. You have a wonderful angel watching over you.

Dear Sally (& Family); Pat; Peggi, Rodney and All:

Please accept condolences from the Butler family (Kathy Butler Mayle Towns, Candace Butler, Patricia Glenn Good; Rita Butler Jordan; Ted (Corkey) Butler; and William (Butch) Glenn). We are all in shock to hear of Mike's passing. We grew up with Mike…we were all friends and I have such great childhood memories growing up in Sharpsville, PA and we all attended First Baptist Church (such good times). Mike was one of the smartest men I knew. I remember I was finishing my Masters in Nursing Education when he was in medical school. My preceptor and his mentor ate lunch every day at Roy Rogers. Many times Dr. Dixon had Mike join us for lunch. I always heard from him of his love of family (Mom – Ms. Lillian; Sally, and then at the time Michael Jr.). Although we did not see Mike, I was able to keep up with his career and was so pleased to hear how well he was doing. I would follow Sally's postings on Facebook and saw all the beautiful grandchildren. We will miss this Good and Faithful Servant of God.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. P many years ago at St. John's Mercy. He was a wonderful doctor with a great ability to relate to patients of all walks of life. I am shocked to hear of his passing. I will always remember his Christmas socks, I think the only time he wore socks was at Christmas. He also helped us out when we all got giardiasis at out unit Christmas party. Lots of stories and lots of laughs. I hope all of you will find peace in knowing he touched so many lives. Dr. Patterson was the kindest, most compassionate and intelligent Doctor I ever had the good fortune to work with in my 20 years of correctional medical care.
You will be remembered and greatly missed by many. Prayers and blessings for his Family.

November 29, 2014

I knew Mike, Dr. P, when he was the director of our detox unit, and the Medical Director of our dual diagnosis unit at St. John's hospital (and through its many identities). It was a true joy to work with this man. We nurses certainly looked forward to his rounds. Kind, humorous, affectionate, intelligent, compassionate, professional, family oriented, these are just a few words that come immediately to mind when remembering this wonderful man. It is 30 years later now, and these are the things I remember about your husband and your father. May you be comforted by his loving spirit.

With fond recollection,

I met Dr.Patterson two years ago when I began working in corrections. He was so smooth and cool that I couldn't help but like him instantly. Over time I found that he had a kind spirt. A black doctor with gold chains, he was an awesome person that I looked up to. My condolences to the Pattersons. I cried when I heard that he went to a better place.
God Bless
