Michael Paulette Obituary

Published by Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel on Jan. 15, 2019.
PAULETTE, Michael Wayne, devoted husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019, at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife, Julie Glass Paulette; his sister, Gail Paulette Flournoy (Buck); his daughters, Susan Paulette DePhillip (Tony) and Elizabeth Paulette Baughan (Mike); and his granddaughters, Ella Gray Baughan, Callie Anne Baughan, Addison Paulette DePhillip, Mary Katelyn DePhillip and Melody Marie DePhillip.
Mike was born in Richmond, on June 11, 1944, to Addie Lena Ferguson and Willard Thornton Paulette. A graduate of Douglas Freeman High School, Mike earned a bachelor's degree at Hampden–Sydney College and a Masters of Commerce from the University of Richmond. After serving as an officer in the U.S. Army, Mike spent his career in banking, retiring as an executive officer at Bank of America. He served as Chairman of the National Automated Clearing House Association and held other leadership roles with the Association for Corporate Growth, the Executive Advisory Council of the University of Richmond Robins School of Business, the marketing and management advisory board of the Virginia State University Business School and the corporate board of OneMindHealth. He had been serving as a managing director at Core Consulting.
As an elder and deacon in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., Mike showed steadfast dedication to the Salisbury Presbyterian Church in Midlothian, Va., serving as a member of the chancel choir, the SPC Foundation Board, outreach programs and the music academy, where he was also a student.
Much of Mike's labor and leisure time was devoted to the management and maintenance of Mestak, the family farm in Appomattox, where trees were grown, views were enjoyed and memories were made. He also enjoyed reading and playing piano, tennis, pickleball and golf.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, January 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, and to a memorial service on Saturday, January 19, at 11 a.m. at Salisbury Presbyterian Church in Midlothian, Va.
Memorial contributions may be made to Salisbury Presbyterian Church Friends of Music or the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.woodyfuneralhomehuguenot.com.

My dearest Julie,Susan and Elizabeth:
There are very few words that can be said in describing Mike because he was such a large footprint on this Earth bringing a smile to your face whenever he entered a room..
He was gentle and kind and always tendered others before himself..I cherish the trip we all took with our young children to Wrightsville Beach where we laughed and played the entire trip...Heaven just lit his name,
So I will look for that extra bright star above..

Love,
Jackie, Alicia and Andrea
