Dear Popovich family, we are sorry to hear about Mike's passing. He was a great friend to my Dad, Dutch Triebwasser. I have a lot of memories of Mike in my youth swimming at MHCC pool. He was funny, kind and loved life. Ann Triebwasser, Patrick Ntahobari, Josh & Sam.

Dear Karen, Mike & family...
We are so sorry to hear of Michael's passing. He was a great friend to Chris, Craig and I. Who knew that our storage customer would become such a fixture in our lives. We miss the guy who used to pop into our office on a weekly and eventually daily basis. At first it was just to chat - and boy did he have the stories; from his swimming coach career, his military days, growing up in Chicago, and more! And, a great sense of humor - he always made us laugh. He always had a hug and a kiss on the cheek for Lacy. He loved to tease Craig and Chris. When my Mom, Connie, came by the office he would be a charming flirt. At one point he began to offer to help out around the storage facility & industrial park - I think he just wanted to feel useful. I'd try to tell this 80-something we just liked his company and politely decline his offer...but, he would have none of it! So, we gave him little odd jobs and he really enjoyed helping us, and we were grateful for the help. He enjoyed showing us his ceramic crocks used for making sauerkraut, old newspapers he had saved from WWII, and he was particularly proud of a binder that was presented to him of his career at MHCC as a swim coach. He talked about students he was still in contact with after all these years. It was fun to see the photos of Mike in his younger days - what a handsome guy. He had the greatest smile. And, he had a great voice - kinda sounded like the "Godfather!" We learned that he had a Serbian background - and he would make little comments...in Serbian...such as "Achte Bechy - Oche Te Bete" or "If it is meant to be, it will be." When it became necessary for Michael to have assisted care and he moved to Lincoln City to be near his son, Mike...all of a sudden it was so quiet here. We missed him - we talked a few times after that move, but we could see that our old friend was beginning to slip away. We will forever be grateful for his friendship and that we got so spend a few years with him. With love to the family, Lacy Renard, Chris Warnock & Craig Warnock
