During works with Tammy and George, Joe Bonamassa, and touring with him, we knew Michael and grew to love and appreciate his amazing talent. A life well-lived, such a kind soul and he will truly be missed!

I was very sad hearing this news! A most versatile player and a funny man as well. Our several dinners with Anton while Micheal and he were touring with Joe B. were lovely here in Germany (where I moved to after 38 years in Manhattan), and he was nice enough to let me try out his white Fender P-Bass as well. RIP Michael, and my sincere condolences to all his family and friends!

I am going to miss seeing him play I saw him many times with Joe Bonamassa. He was a great bass player. I had no idea he was Ill he will be missed my condolences to his family and friends.

I wish I could have met him. He has been an inspiration to me as a player. His breadth of recording inside and outside of Nashville is as legendary as the accomplishments of The Wrecking Crew. A man of quiet confidence and positive attitude, he was a player’s player. Rest in peace, brother.

I discovered Michael late in his career through his work with Randall Bramblett. Only to discover that I already had him on cds by Shawn Colvin, Steve Winwood, and many others. As a bassist myself I was awed by his inventive playing but like the pro he was, he knew when to play and when not to play. I have heard interviews and regret that I never had the chance to meet him in person. The players who hired him are a true testament to his musical prowess. Rest in peace Michael. When I get to Heaven, hopefully, I will look you up and until then I will cherish your work in my musical collection.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to your family and friends, brother Michael Rhodes. I never met you, but I saw you play with Joe Bonamassa. And you make me very proud to be from Louisiana. When I first saw you playing an old Kay bass, I knew you were cool, then I heard your playing and learned who you are. Rest well in paradise, where we all sing and play for our God!!! You will always be remembered

There was no cooler feeling in the world than watching Michael and Kenny with their shaved heads strapping on guitars for the night of a live gig in town. You just knew that music would never get better than that particular evening and the "cool" factor just went up by like a million. This loss hits me hard and I never even knew Michael. His life was a gift to us all.

The first time I met Michael, he came in to track an independent CD with drummer Chad Cromwell as the Rhythm Section. I was the engineer at the time working with Michael McDonald in his studio in Franklin. From the minute they started to run down the song, the way he wheeled that bass guitar around and pulled his notes a half step to meet where he wanted to go... I knew I was witnessing something I had never seen before! There was energy mixed with magic in every of his playing! His drive was probably 75% of the track and his feel was unbelievably dead on. He was obviously the best bassist I had ever been in a room with. The next time I saw Michael, I was driving through East Nashville, looking for a home to buy and we ran into each other on the street in front of where he lived in the Lockland Springs area. We talked for a while and he said, we need people like you to move here. That was very encouraging coming from Michael and so we had some discussion with his wife Lindy about what to look for as she was also a realtor. I did end up moving into the area just down the street and restoring a home there. In the back of my mind I was thinking... we're going to play together someday, but that never happened. I would see Michael once in a while, maybe every few years and we would say hello to each other, the last time I saw him was last summer up at Sound Check in the hallway. We greeted each other again and when I asked him what he was doing up there, he replied... I'm up here rehearsing with Joe. Of course I knew who Joe was. I had caught a couple tv specials with Michael playing with Joe Bonamassa before. But from day one, I always thought to myself.. if Jimi Hendrix was alive today, Michael Rhodes would be his bass player. I loved all the tracks I he did with Oz Noy. When I heard the news of Michaels passing, I just could not believe it. I was stunned and very saddened. We lost one of the best bass players in the world. I don't think I'll ever witness that kind of style that Michael developed into his craft or that kind of magic again. His passing is a huge loss for the Nashville community as well as the world. May he see God in all his glory. Rest in peace my friend. Prayers for all your family and friends.

Michael and I were roommates for awhile back in early 1980. Great guy, great player and the bass world will miss you my friend. RIP.

I'm just a nobody but Michael treated me like a somebody. I was playing bass for an artist he was producing and after the show he said, "You did a good job". Very humbling and a shot in the arm I will never, ever forget. My condolences to Michael's family and friends.

An extremely talented musician, so many loved his music. Sincere condolences to the Rhodes family, truly sorry for your loss, God be with you at this very difficult time.

Such a sad loss ,seen Michael live with Joe Bonamassa a few times , normally don't notice Bass players but always notice Michael,his legacy will live forever

Saw him many times in the 90´s with many different bands...Always wanted to speak to him but didn´t want to bother him....Was always great to hear him play....Thoughts & Prayers.. May his Memory be Eternal ..God Rest his Soul....

Thank you Michael for all that you’ve done for setting the example n the Best of the best for the rest of us bass players n I’m so thankful for you n your dedication to make the rest of us to hopefully be just like you one day , can’t thank you enough for your dedication n the legacy and the gift that you left with me n the passion of bass playin that you’ve left for us to follow RIP my friend n prayers for your family .
