Michael Allen Roderick

Myrtle Beach - Michael Allen Roderick, 66, passed away December 18, 2025 at his home in Myrtle Beach, SC after a 10-year battle with frontal meningiomas.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Andrea, who passed away from cancer in 2021. They leave behind their beloved daughter, Nicole, 20, of Camarillo, CA.

Mike was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1959, to Michael and Diana. Mike left his birth family at the age of 3, living first in a group home followed by foster care.

After his 11th birthday, Mike joined and completed the Burke/Dolan family in 1970, living in Patchogue, NY, and making many great friends. After graduating high school, Mike attended Island Drafting Institute to pursue his love of all things construction. However, Mike was a hands-on guy and decided to join the US Navy Sea-Bees in 1979, serving proudly for 6 years in overseas stations including Spain and Guam. After separating from the Navy, Mike continued his calling as a carpenter in Southern CA.

After welcoming Nicole in 2005, Mike became a stay-at-home parent while Andrea worked as an engineer for the Navy. They lived in Oxnard and Camarillo CA until 2015 when they moved to Pax River, MD. After Andrea's passing, Mike and Nicole returned to Camarillo, CA in 2021 where Nicole completed high school with her old friends.

Following his final brain surgery in 2023, Mike accepted that future tumor recurrences could no longer be treated. Mike moved to Covenant Towers, Myrtle Beach, in 2024, to be nearer to family who could help in his final days. Covenant Towers welcomed Mike with open arms, making the last year and a half of his life a joyous time. Nicole was lovingly accepted into the family of Scott and Melissa, who became her surrogate parents in a gesture of love and compassion. Mike and his family are eternally grateful for their selfless support of Nicole.

In his final months, Mike found loving care with Comfort Keepers and Embrace Hospice, allowing him to stay at home, comfortably surrounded by friends and family.

Mike was predeceased by his biological parents and his sister Eileen, tragically murdered in Brooklyn in 1978. Mike is survived by his mother, Mary Jane, sisters Margaret, Cathy, Phyllis, and brother Tim. Mike and Andrea's cremains will be interred in Calverton National Cemetery, NY in the coming months; a memorial will be announced in 2026.
